Re: FIA - straw poll of enthusiasts
I last attended in the 90's and wouldn't return - crowd far to cramped, uninspired displays, and now way to expensive never mind the traffic problems.

Re: Poll: Reasons why YOU chose to give Duxford a miss
Could people offer a view about Hunt's Road on both days please. From my perspective of Saturday only - Hunts Lane remained open throughout the day despite the closure order, and was used by a multitude of vehicles including those of the local Constabulary. There were many people parked up in a fie...

Re: Poll: Reasons why YOU chose to give Duxford a miss
I voted other, simply as one single heading didn't cover my reasoning for not 'going in'. I was assisting my wife and her friends at Duxford school providing the RAFA stall there, so viewed from the field adjacent to the school. My decision to assist the fund raising and not attend the show was form...

Pleasure flying has been constant all morning and there are people in the fields already, east of the M11, and have been for a couple of hours.

Re: Grange Rd Duxford fences and closure notice - pics attac
Footpath 9 closed by law, or just blocked by a hired goon? There's a difference. A "security man" has no legal authority to stop anyone. Basically he's just a bloke in hi-vis there to intimidate. By the closure order at the start of the thread I assume - I can't however understand how you...

Traffic is flowing freely in both directions on Hunts Lane - bit odd considering the closure notice. Foot path nine is closed with fences and a bored security man.

Re: A trip back to Aircraft Illustrated June 1996
Reading a copy I bought (new £2.60) had so much in it to remind me of the not so long ago good old days. Just 19 years ago............... Apparently 1 Sqn were bringing their entire 15 Harriers to RIAT 96, did it happen? Not quite, there were 18 Harriers at RIAT '96 13 x GR7, 4 x T10 and 1 x FA2. T...

Re: Red Arrows Cancel Newcastle (N.I)
What if they didn't fly to Nottingham in a straight line? Which they didn't, for Scampton they routed south over Fenland/Spalding, Market Deeping, north of Stamford (where I saw them) and on to Trent Bridge.

Re: Super Hornet on the Sunday
To be honest the Hornet display is a bit gimmicky and does nothing to convince me of its performance in a hostile arena being anything extra special.. One of the oldest fighter pilot adages is 'Speed is life' and its as relevent today as it was 100 years ago. Even with a wing man in these days of HM...

Nice link silentflight, however bit presumptuous isn't it to only ask the Conservative government to save the airshow after the next general election - unless of course the peoples decision on our next government has already been made

The line that interests me in the article is : The F-35A that was damaged in the fire was towed to a hangar June 23 and secured along with any foreign object debris found on the runway at the time of the incident , and a safety investigation board has been initiated. I appreciate that debris may hav...
