Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Slovenian Pc-9 is a great display and adds some variety to the lineup.

Nice to see their Spartan too.

Promising news re both the Canadians and US assets too.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

The Swedish Gripen is an excellent performer and always worth watching - a consistently punchy, well flown display whichever wing it comes from. Like the Belgian F-16 - the Swedish Gripen is one of those regular stalwarts that contributes so so much to making a RIAT, a RIAT - year in, year out - and...

Re: Airpower24 - Zeltweg, Austria

On the Thursday, Police were blocking off Flatschacher Strasse from corner of the field (near Gartenweg). The crops were very high, which made approach shots difficult. They were more tolerant of people out in the field, but were still moving anyone on who went beyond the crop line. I watched from H...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

With Aalborg the same weekend, and Tigermeet on at the same time, I’d wager it’ll be a rather quiet year for Cosford on the international front.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Midnight Hawks are an awesome addition.

Hopefully the 40 Hawk finally makes it (if it’s still around?)

Very nice, tight formation team - they didn’t get a good innings in 2017 with the weather, either, so nice to have them back.

Good first update.

As it’s static - it would be nice to see a D model Hornet, rather than the usual C.

Re: Duxford flying finale

Seriously considered this, however Duxford is just too expensive to warrant attending these days. I haven’t been to a Duxford show for 2 years, and really can’t see myself going back (aside from the BoB show, perhaps) - uninspiring lineups at a premium cost. The Autumn airshow used to be great, not ...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

I’d suggest there’s a difference in what people call a good display. I thought the Italian outshone the RAF routine in terms of dynamism, power and sheer spectacle - slingshotting around all over the place with far more energy, whereas the RAF routine is probably more appealing to a typical photogra...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Saudi Tornado would be pretty good too, but perhaps a bit of a muted celebration without the RAF. The B-1 I can take or leave, you wouldn't get anything more substantial than what you'd get on a standard deployment anyway I'll take the Italian, Saudi and German quite happily and a B1 'standard depl...

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

Agree with some of the replies, but there's a bit of stuff that does seem the same every year (which I understand why), but if other big summer festivals do it year on year people would call them out for it (like booking the same acts over and over again) - regardless being a military show and ther...

Re: Budget airlines

Ryanair are fine. You get what you pay for, but they usually get you there at significantly less cost than other operators. Never understood the hate they get, the only significant delay they’ve ever caused me (flying with them 2-3 times per year) was due to a cracked windscreen on arrival into Krak...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

RJF / RJAF are a RIAT staple - their display is excellently flown, and the commitment of the team / RJAF C-130 crew turning up each and every year without fail is worthy of admiration in its own right. Re: Jordan sending jets instead, as I understand it the RJF are not a purely military concern and ...
