Many thanks for all the advice guys, really appreciated.

Opted for the 4500 and the Watson aerial - just not had chance to try them out yet.

Scanner and aerial - advice please

Looking to get a hand held scanner and was wondering what you guys would recommend.

I have heard the Uniden 125xlt with a Watson 881 aerial works well.

Many thanks, Ian

I have seen two great posts on here tonight of some great images .. over 300 of you have seen their posts that these two guys have taken the time to put on here ... and not one of you has left a comment ... I think that's really sad and doesn't exactly encourage others to post on here ... please giv...

Re: RIAT 2015

What you have to bare in mind guys is that BA gives us a lot of support behind the scenes with staff etc ... so seems only right that they take their place with the A318 at RIAT.

Beautiful images Stuart .... I am so sorry I have been out of the loop for ages, I have only just learned of Mike's passing and I am so so sorry, he was an amazing man, used to love catching up with him at various airshows and when he worked at RIAT, a truly lovely man and friend, once again I am so...

Re: A Genuine Question

But when you can go to a smaller Wings And Wheels elsewhere for £15, without having your bags searched, or paying £30 for a grandstand seat... Don't underestimate the savvy of the "general public" A bit like comparing going to watch Man United or Mansfield Town (no offence meant Stags fan...

Re: A Genuine Question

I consider myself an enthusiast but am realistic to the airshow of today. I've been visiting this forum for a few years but its really starting to become an unenjoyable read. I can't believe the bashing RIAT gets. I do agree it has faults. I do agree there are areas to improve. However it's ridicul...

Re: A Genuine Question

Once the core, loyal customer is lost or alienated, you're a long time winning them back. RIAT is bloated, expensive and, at times, an unpleasant show to attend with the ticket price, unduly zealous security checks, day-specific tickets, vanishing crowdline and mediocre line-ups. Foreign shows are,...

Re: A Genuine Question

That old 'we' represent 5/10% of the crowd really grates me, its total and utter nonsense, why people keep saying it is beyond me. Luke, "what is an aircraft enthusiast?" ... the answer is ... no one really knows ... I think I might be, but I have no idea what the definition is ... I love...

Re: A Genuine Question

To Answer Dan, where has moaning about what RIAT do, and arguing with each other got us? It's made DBH aware that a large percentage of die-hard enthusiasts who used to never think twice before committing to a week's expense, now feel that their interests are no longer important to the organisers, ...

Re: A Genuine Question

I will throw my few thoughts into the mix.. Has anyone thought about the fact that Caterham MAY have actually paid DBH to be there, therefore adding to the funds that DBH have to spend on brining a/c in? After all they would have used it as a big promotional event…. The PR rubbish this year does no...

Re: RIAT / Waddington / Farnborough

If I was based in Colchester I would camp at RIAT and do Friday & Saturday, stay Saturday night and do Duxford Legends as it's on the journey home on the Sunday .. That way you get the best of both worlds ... and the flying display at RIAT does usually have small variations between Saturday &...

Re: RIAT / Waddington / Farnborough

Eek, looks like I need to factor in hiring a lens as well... Only got a 70-300mm atm, which sounds like it won't cut the mustard...! 300mm will be fine for RIAT ... and I would go for the camping route .. there are some great campsites, I am sure the chaps on here can fill you in on where's best to...

Re: A Genuine Question

Whatever will be said will probably NOT happen for RIAT 2014 and we'll be subjected to car shows, out of tune singers, a Tri@RIAT cavalcade covering all 2 miles of the showground, the Royal Jordanian Falcons and a Chris Strawson sponsored solo Jet Provost display. Sorry Douglas Bader House, I've at...
