Re: Hawker Typhoon Preservation Group

Same, used to be a staple stand to visit at Duxford airshows, I always donated / bought stuff, and enjoyed a good chat with the guy that fronted it - pretty sure his name was Dave. Always seemed ambitious but like they were on the ball. Feel like there's been a major change of direction in the last ...

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Leeds East/Church Fenton

Was there today and on the whole agree with other posts: Access was an absolute breeze - very well organised. The feel of the place was very relaxed, and enjoyed spending a significant part of the morning sat listening to music. Trade stalls were lacking - conscious that limited notice could have be...

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Leeds East/Church Fenton

The website states that some of the patking areas won't be accessible during the display... anyone know which? Maybe I'm being too literal, but does that mean you can't leave until the display is over if you end up parked there? I would say so. Would also mean that they will close half hour or mayb...

If the timing worked, a 2nd flypast for the Meteor alongside the 262 would be pretty special.

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Leeds East/Church Fenton

I'm driving from West Yorkshire to Gloucestershire on Friday, Fairford on Saturday, driving home Saturday night, then Church Fenton Sunday.

Had I known where / when Legends would be at the time of booking RIAT, I'd have planned it differently, but determined to make it work.

If they're not going to be able to run the engines, why is a live airfield a necessity?

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

Elvington would seem the most logical to me. There appears to be space for another hangar if needs be. Seems odd just how quick out the blocks YAM were with their statement. I find it hard to believe that having the aircraft there doesn't appeal... so you assume there must be some issue with VTTS. W...

Re: Flying Legends future? Forum thoughts!

Only way I can see it returning is if it returns to Duxford. No idea how realistic that is, but feels like one or both of IWM and TFC would need to fundamentally reassess their recent approach to the event. Despite all the cost of living challenges at the moment, I'm in no doubt that there's still a...

Re: Duxford Summer Air Show - 18th & 19th June

I have some sympathy with the idea of running the museum as a business that can sustain its self... if successful it ought to secure the future of the collection and the site. BUT it only works if they get their business model right. It seems to me they're alienating an existing customer base, and f...

Glad I decided to stay away. Have spent a lot of money attending Duxford airshows over the past 28 years, but won't be spending any more until they have a serious change of direction.

Re: Duxford Summer Air Show - 18th & 19th June

Same for me... never missed Legends, and only rarely miss the September show. This line up has a few nice items, but nowhere near enough, and way too many filler items. It's hard to believe it's been put together by an enthusiast.

Hope it goes ahead, but still wonder if there's any faint hope of an agreement veing reached with IWM... it's got to be in both party's interests.
