Re: RIAT ATC

Thanks, the breakthrough is something we suffer from in the tower so it's interesting to know it's not heard externally. (For clarification, on the tower frequency (124.8), when an aircraft is transmitting (i.e. reading back a line-up or take-off clearance), we also hear the controller on Delivery ...

Re: RIAT ATC

Apologies we didn't post very much, we had problems accessing our Twitter account on the Tuesday evening and then it just seemed to be busier than last year in the evenings so we never really got around to posting here. One question for the group.... on departures day when we open Clearance Deliver...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

It's getting absolutely ridiculous that FRIAT, at the prices they're now charging, is the one place on the showground where you don't get any commentary at all. There is surely no excuse for cutting it out of the enthusiast's show? It really diminishes the programme. Genuine question, what value do...

Totterdown for us again, first time we've done Tues - Monday. Added a generator and solar to the kit this year so the oven and fridge can come too.

Almost time so here you go. Not noticed any changes for this year. I'll check the CAA freqs when the NOTAMS go up. Tower 124.800, 246.350 Dispatch 233.475 Ground 339.700, 234.250 Ops 278.925 SOF 279.275 Metro 284.425 ATIS 135.450, 292.300 Following is WFU but might be worth listening on just in case...

KRF is the ICAO code for United Kingdom Royal VIP Flights , callsign "Kittyhawk". It would appear that today's jaunt to Scotland has been subsidised by the Royal Family, hence the callsigns. So the UK taxpayer then! I won't give your previous disgusting response the time of day. But to th...

Re: Scanner Frequencies 2022

From the RIAT ATC thread: 124.8 Tower 121.180 Ground 124.555 Delivery (only open Monday for departures) Interesting! Ground frequency 121.180 appears to be on a 8.33kHz spacing. For those of us with older scanners, will we hear it on the nearest 25 kHz channel? I notice that 121.175 is listed as th...

Re: Scanner Frequencies 2022

So on show day you want the tower freq, primarily 124.800. This is where you'll hear the displays authorised to begin and they'll tell the tower when they are almost done. Also all take off and landing clearances. Displays kind of have the tower freq at their disposal whilst displaying. Some teams s...

After a couple of years thought it might be an idea to update the scanner freqs as there's been a few changes. If they had massive queues all day then I'd suggest they put their prices up, supply and demand. If you dont like it dont buy it.

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread

Unless the sun's out 😏 Was my worry when I first went, of course it is if you're shooting at the display line but at Totters you get loads of topsides very close as they loop around for their next run over the airfield, from the airfield they are very distant. In reality all the best shots come wit...

They doubt they’d be liable. Nor do I know what they will be liable for given that sunburn usually heals up after 24 hours. And yes, some of the population are thick, but I still don’t really see what the problem with an occasional reminder is. I hope I’m not thick, and I’ve been caught out by the ...

Does it hurt anyone to remind them to put on sun lotion and drink fluids? Of course, it’s a matter for you and I respect that, but it strikes me as a weird thing to get frustrated about. It's not specifically sun cream, it's the general stupidity of the population. I have the joy of working with th...
