Re: What will you miss most without airshows this year?

Everything regarding RIAT. The weekly aircraft updates on my phone during my lunch break. Setting up at Totterdown and seeing/socialising with friendly faces who I normally see every RIAT week. Getting a rest from the wife and kids. Hopefully Cosford which is my local show may still go ahead in Sept...

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread

Had something fly over my house around 30 mins ago in Dudley, West Midlands quite loud. Think flying East to West direction. There were 3 sets of contrails when I got outside but I was too late to see what it was. Any ideas what it was folks ?

Hydroxychloroquine is also used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. My wife was on this drug before they changed her medication .Hopefully this does prove to be effective.

Re: Airline brinksmanship over Covid-19

I have a few holidays booked this year. The first one in mid May was booked through Love Holidays flying with Ryanair. Heard nothing about that one yet. The second one was end of June through TUI and they have let me move that to 2021.The third in August so too early on that one yet. I am due to go ...

It has gone off topic admittedly. Maybe Alex was trying to get it back on topic but it was a bit naive to think that the smaller shows may still go ahead.

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

Did you get the chance to cheek in the weblink? There are lots of details in the full guidance for dos and don'ts, critical cut off dates, what counts as work etc. - the guidelines are still evolving. I may be wrong, but that's the advice we've been receiving from the company that administers our p...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

I am dealing with the Furloughed Salary arrangements for the museum’s staff and the guidelines do change; but it’s basically about keeping people on a company payroll; you cannot get paid employment elsewhere and retain furloughed status: “New guidance on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme has be...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

I’m not an expert in this by any stretch, just going off what I have been told by my own employer. Basically if you are on furlough you are still employed by your employer and therefore still under the terms and conditions of your contract with them so getting back to your friend it all depends if ...

Whilst we are on the subject of furlough,a mate of mine has been put on furlough until at least after Easter. He's getting 80% of his salary but has been offered a temporary night shift for a major supermarket picking orders for online shopping deliveries.Wouldn't doing this affect his 80% furlough p...

I hate to dash anyone's hopes of the show going ahead, but I've been told today by a very reliable source that DBH have told the printing company to halt printing on RIAT 2020 tickets etc.I was browsing the RIAT website today and got the message 'we are not here right now' .I would love RIAT 2020 to...

Re: DC-8 landing at Birmingham!

The DC-8 was the very first aircraft I ever flew on back in the 80's.It was with the now defunct Spanish airline Spantax. The bumpiest landing ever when we landed in Palma. Some people screamed as we hit the ground. We were also five hours delayed out of Birmingham due to a fault on the aircraft.

[I admire your patriotism but the Italians were far better.I was viewing from Totterdown though which gives you a different perspective than being in the showground. That Italian Typhoon slow pass then into afterburners was incredible. My ears are still ringing. Totterdown Park and View

I don't know how many people on here use Totterdown Park and view but campers are getting increasingly fed up with people leaving the park and view field and wandering into the camping fields. Some were on or walking through pitches so much so a security guard was appointed this year to move people o...

Rhymes last opened in 2015. They agreed wef 2016 they wouldn't open. The only reason I asked was because I thought (dangerous, I know) that they agreed that they wouldn't open for 3 years from 2016 - so 16,17 and 18 - meaning that they MAY reopen on 2019. I guess not. I didn't even bother going dow...

I would have thought Totterdown was a bit too far away to watch anything other than actual displays, where you probably have the best view in the house.
