Re: Aircraft seen randomly at unexpected but most welcome ti
In the late 80's I was asked to help someone relocate out to Spain in the Benalmadena area south of Malaga. Whilst walking along the beach front there, along the coast came a Vauteur. The only time i ever saw one fly and for the life of me i've never found out where it was going or why it was going....

Re: How did you get into Planes?
My father was in the aviation insurance business, worked in London. Took me along to the Biggin Hill airshow probably 69/70, pissed myself while sitting on the top of the car as aircraft flew a lot lower and faster and not necessarily just from the left and right! He also was instrumental in Duxford...

Re: Screechy @ Axalp for the 2nd time
It was a good weather year which helped although too good at times as the sun really played havoc with the focussing at times, especially with the flares being pumped out down in the valley. Think if I do Wildgarst again then i'd like to go with something a bit more than my 100-400 to get those land...

Re: Screechy @ Axalp for the 2nd time
Great set Steve and super fast turnaround! It will be a while before you see anything from me. I love the Hornet line up at base that we didn't get and the last 2 really 'capture the moment' well. The place name is Schwarzwaldalp. Great effort to get up there in that time. Cheers Rich, downloaded F...

Re: Screechy @ Axalp for the 2nd time
We went the long way around the back, cannot remember the name but it was long and began with S, but it took me 4 hours 50 mins, a lot of which was in pitch black. I actually didn't find it that bad up. I found it more uncomfortable coming down, probably because of earlier fatigue but also found it ...

Screechy @ Axalp for the 2nd time
I hit Axalp for only the second time last week with the promise of decent weather, so in tow with fellow UKARers Zigzag and Dr Cake we hit the slopes at stupid o'clock to make our way up mountain after mountain in the pursuit of something special. 1. Down at Meiringen on the not so sunny day http://...

A doggo which had been chasing a pupper ate some carrots and then spluffed all over the BBMF’s jelly. Fortunately no rainbows were harmed.

Reckon the pyro bit was directly in front of the disabled area. I was pretty far left in FRIAT and the pyros certainly weren't behind the Apache from where I was.

Re: Sitting centre of the crowd line
Lets face it everything they do is geared to earning money for charity. Still there are expenses that need paying. I'm sure they cover themselves many times over to allow for any disastrous eventualities too like the cancelation in 2008. I wouldn't go within a million miles of the programme if I did...

Re: Sitting centre of the crowd line
Fund the show? Most of the display element doesn't need funding as military assets are FOC with a few exceptions, it's just a massive money spinner and they're trying the same with Scampton but without the content. Outside of the nuts and bolts aircraft there is still a lot to pay for. Fuel, accomm...

Re: Sitting centre of the crowd line
There is a public grandstand that is available just along from there that you can sit in if wanted. If you are prepared to arrive early enough then places are available. That would be the 'Viewing Village' grandstand, I presume. If so -- not exactly free, nor is it open access....and unless I'm mis...
