Re: Cottesmore RIAT 2001 - The Return

Some excellent shots here, thanks for posting these. This was my second RIAT and I have some vivid memories of this event despite being so young at the time. Real halcyon days thats for sure.

Re: Cool Moves

Concur with a couple of those already mentioned. There's so many choices, but the MiG-29 OVT backflipping at Fairford in 2006 is a standout for me, as was the first demonstration of C-27J aerobatics we saw in 2011. Nothing cool about it but the infamous manoueuvre in the Typhoon rehearsal at RIAT 20...

Re: FIA 2020 Participants

Sad to see the most famous UK airshow venue in such a state of disarray. As an aside, its interesting to see the event's 72-year history eagerly quoted by the organisers whilst discussing their present situation - I tend to wonder if this heritage is genuinely recognised the rest of the time, especi...

Re: UPDATED 07.02 - Flying Legends retrospective - *1997*

Ended up watching the home video myself recently, one of the small perks of lockdown!

In said P-51 sequence, it looked like Dave Southwood was in the cockpit of a 'Memphis Belle film' green Mustang so presumably he was the pilot of Paul Morgan's example?

Re: RIAT 2019

Very bizzare logic in those Tweets 'justifying' the Friday price hike. Given the number of departures listed post-display I guess that fairly small total includes GA day visitors... Surely in that case Monday P&V tickets should be seriously expensive if the whole ticket pricing strategy is based...

5 aircraft didn't make it up today - AR501 (back at Shuttleworth), EE602 (taxied out but returned) and the Comanche trio of 'P7308', X4650 and JG891.

Re: UK Heritage Aviation Trust

A few if I may: 1) Has a full engineering survey been performed to ensure the aircraft is the most suitable Vampire to purchase? 2) How quickly could the aircraft be made airworthy? 3) How do you plan to market the aircraft given the at best lukewarm public response seen towards the WK163 project? 4...

Canberra is XH135 as opposed to XH134, and has been used for spare parts in recent years.

Happy to be corrected but I believe XE665 is the Hunter's ident; a static airframe only.
