Re: Race Day - 6th October
Completely echo the comments about the Gladiator display and the Bronco was on fine form also! benpk1; I think the Collection Mew Gull last displayed over the Festival of Flight weekend and was in the hangar being inspected and re-covered by mid-July - so it certainly wasn't the aircraft flying arou...

Re: FRIAT Stand Location 2025
talk about ruining the RIAT experience before it's even started this year..... the timing of this announcement puts a dampener on the event This. The timing is appalling - it's almost like they can't bear to allow members to just enjoy the show they have spent all year saving for and looking forwar...

Re: FRIAT Stand Location 2025
What a shame - particularly following on so closely from the confirmed removal of the dedicated access lane. Only positive is credit where credit is due to DBH for announcing it over 12 months in advance. What else is left to take away from the package? "As the grandstand is now situated nearer...

Its already open and at the minute includes a write-up and survey following the FRIAT Forum. Useful bits of info usually get added prior to the show and you'll often be emailed when its been updated.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
Is there an accepted definition between what the difference between a display and role demonstration is? As per RA 2335: Display Flying. Any flying activity designed to demonstrate an Aircraft’s performance beyond that normally carried out during routine operations and training, whether or not it i...

Not heard a peep, they've properly fixed something that wasnt broken. I'd be close to making my second monthly installment on the old system by now Not heard anything either, what on earth is going on?! Re: Non-Existent Customer Support from RIAT and/or RAFCTE
Disappointing to hear this consistently poor customer service. Personally now been waiting over two months for a response now in light of a few disappointments to the FRIAT experience in 2023. Other than out of offices and the generic FRIAT emails, still nothing... The website enquiry form hasn't ga...

Re: FRIAT Forum
CAP403 states that a public address system, "when installed, must be audible throughout the whole Spectator Area" - never quite understood how this is permitted to happen unless it doesn't directly translate across to MAA events? Seems to me like best practice though IMHO. As has been said...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight
A seismic announcement this morning, particularly as it is specifically unrelated to the ongoing uncertainty around the future of the airport. I, too, would be surprised to see a ferry flight given the complexity of the aircraft and the maintenance that would now be required, but dare say it is good...

Something of an antithesis to the excellent E-4B news from earlier. Did anyone else get any consultation about this? Must have missed it here! Came as something of a surprise especially given its apparently what the members have asked for and it seems others here feel the same. The vast...

Concur with a couple of those already mentioned. There's so many choices, but the MiG-29 OVT backflipping at Fairford in 2006 is a standout for me, as was the first demonstration of C-27J aerobatics we saw in 2011. Nothing cool about it but the infamous manoueuvre in the Typhoon rehearsal at RIAT 20...

Re: FIA 2020 Participants
Sad to see the most famous UK airshow venue in such a state of disarray. As an aside, its interesting to see the event's 72-year history eagerly quoted by the organisers whilst discussing their present situation - I tend to wonder if this heritage is genuinely recognised the rest of the time, especi...

Ended up watching the home video myself recently, one of the small perks of lockdown!
In said P-51 sequence, it looked like Dave Southwood was in the cockpit of a 'Memphis Belle film' green Mustang so presumably he was the pilot of Paul Morgan's example?
