Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
We'll just have to wait for about three months to see what happens. That was when they pulled the plug out this year, that will also be the time they will have to decide about next year. As long as we will get Thursday updates, it is on (unless the update is: it is off). BTW where was yesterday's Wa...

Re: Request time and some fun. RIAT 2021
indeed. would also love to see an F104 starfighter flying. i hear there is one flying in norway. would be brilliant to see that, even if its just flyovers There is a flying example based in Norway but I believe the ejector seat is currently broken, so it won't be flying anywhere until that's fixed ...

Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
Fairford and Legends entries confirmed but “TBD” I would guess it will be the F-16, and maybe the HF, just because last show the plan didn't work as planned, like we had with the F-22 in the past (I try to mention a try again), and of course the F-16 is already available in Europe from either Spang...

Re: Airshow melancholy.
First one was Le Bourget '89 (An-225 with Buran, MiG-29), Last one till now was Zeltweg in '19.
In between, airshows took me as far North as Lulea, as far West as Landivisiau and as far South and East as Kish Island.
I´m not going to count how many shows I´ve been to in total, sorry for that.

Nothing guaranteed but we could find out any possible US display involvement on Tuesday at ICAS Tuesday, December 8th 10:10 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. Jet Team Schedule Announcements Normally, displays for RIAT are announced a bit later. What you can say is which aircraft will NOT come, due to flying elsewh...

Re: RIAT 50th Anniversary Book
It has been available for pre-orders for at least a month already. I just checked, my pre-order dates from October 5, when I found out while browsing DBH's shop. That doesn't mean it wasn't available before that date. Interesting to know from the preview DBH mailed in a newsletter, is that they are ...

No Luchtmachtdagen 2021
Had an email this morning from the main organiser:
Luchtmachtdagen 2021 will be postponed until further notice. Instead a number of small events will take place BUT these will be recruiting tool only, not big public events. An official statement is due in a few days.

Texel 2022
Just saw some news that I haven't seen reported here earlier, but that has been around for over two months: The Texel Airshow that was planned to take place in 2021 has been postponed till 2022, August 6. Reason given for this is that it is impossible to start the organisation and run a safe and goo...

According to scramble, clashing with Kecskemét, so two of the great east-european shows competing with each other for participants. In the end, both will lose, if one doesn't move dates.

Re: Request time and some fun. RIAT 2021
both the Royal International Air Tattoo and the MAKS-2021 International Aviation and Space Salon have already sent invitation letters to the Chief of Air Staff of the Republic of Korea Air Force Nothing new IMO. South Korea has been on the list of invited countries for as long as DBH made that list...

Re: Saturday and/or Sunday
Safe to say based on previous experience that Saturday tends to be better for content, serviceability & aircraft returning to Fairford to land ready for Sunday show. Aside from displays departing "off-slot" on Sunday, there has been many previous cases of static display items having already relocat...

NH-90 crash in the Caribean
Yesterday, a Dutch NH-90 crashed 12.5 km from the island of Curacao.
It served as the helicopter of the stationvessel HNLMS Groningen. 4 POB, 2 OK, 2 killed.
For the moment, the rest of the fleet is grounded.

Re: Virtual Air Tattoo
Someone also seen that the enclosures didn't reach as far forward as the crowdline? Something of things to come? I have to say that I was quite impressed with the program for the first day. I just missed the hills north of RAF Fairford in the virtual scenery. Also nice to hear the story about the Bl...

as an example - would you pay to go to Wimbledon if it cost you Alot of money and effort to go and see (lets say for sake of argument - two not very good tenis players) would you expect and hope to see somebody better and more interesting in turn for your money. If the not so good players have come...

Re: RIAT 2019
When there was a discussion about the artwork someone shot me down because I liked it, stating that Tempest that was on the artwork couldn't be at the show (for who is interested, I still think this year's artwork is the best since Wilf Hardy stopped doing them).
