Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2019

Better line up than Legends this year that's for sure. Even the jet element give me the Mig and T-33 over the Reds any day

Re: Flying Legends 2019

Like a lot of people I have decidedly mixed feelings about this year. I'm not going to rehash opinions that others have expressed but I do have a couple of observations. The display, for me, severely dropped in pace somewhere after the Bearcat/Sea Fury/Corsair set piece. I felt like I spent an hour ...

Re: Flying Legends 2019

Is it going to be a blockbuster year? No. The DH9 is, for me, the current star item. Do I expect another rare or rarely seen warbird from Europe or further afield to be added at this late stage? No. It will still be a great show. If the final few updates are along the lines of Hun Hunter, Berlin Exp...

Re: Flying Legends 2019

Considering the shows only a few weeks away I was expecting an increase in aircraft confirmations yet it seems to have done the opposite. Still excited for the show though Agreed. To only have 29 aircraft confirmed this close to the event (Not including the Reds here) is mighty unusual. I too was a...

Re: Flying Legends 2019

To be fair you could put together a pretty strong show from UK based aircraft. There are a fair number of Legends "debuts" to be had in this country including the DH.9, ARCo Lysander and the Biggin 109E. Those three alone, for me, would turn this into a far more interesting line up. I know...

Re: Flying Legends 2019

With yet another UK based Spitfire announced; even I have to admit to being a little nervous that we may see a below-par show. With no visitors as such announced yet you can see this line up by attending a couple of UK shows, especially the DX BoB show. I'm clinging to hope that something spectacula...

Re: Flying Legends 2019

It's not many years ago that the participants were only revealed in the week leading up to the show. This year seems different (slower) than recent years, but I'm not worried. TFC know what they're doing. Ah the good old days before social media! I remember the flying list going up around DX on or ...

Re: Daks Over Normandy - June 2019

How about we just go to the event and enjoy what's there, and not worry about what isn't? Whether it's 20 or it's 40 Dakotas it will be nothing like anything I've ever seen. I think the most I've seen together is 3.

The first arrival has been parked South I believe. I imagine any arrivals before the show will be over there as all flight line space and public side space will have been allocated

For £35 a ticket.... Actually £45+ if you want to park your car and go on the flightline walk, things which many other shows include in the headline ticket price. For me that there lies the issue. I've been a DX die-hard for many years now and there has always been something to peak my interest. My...

Re: Duxford Air Festival 25th - 26th May 2019

Flying Legends isn't organised by Duxford though. I'm aware. I'm just theorising why the DX shows have taken such a sharp turn in another direction. They might have had a conversation with themselves like "that's what Legends does, so let's make sure our shows are completely different".

Of course it could ...
