Also interested to find out more about the £10 'Premium Parking' that Sywell are offering.
I asked them on Facebook, their reply was it was a lot closer to the airfield. After further clarification, still not ON the airfield, just closer to it

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

I plan on having a camera rucksack, a cool-bag for food and drink, and a chair. Last year I took a 'granny' pull-along shopping trolley to put some of the bags and chair in to make it easier to walk around with all the stuff. I wonder if the trolley would make it more awkward at the security checks ...

Re: Vintage Airshow September 4th

Parking in front of the hangars is the only thing that enabled me to take my dad to an airshow for the first time in about 20 years due to his mobility issues, we were due to go to a drive-in show but had to cancel to due to covid, but went to the Fly Navy show. It was perfect being able to sit by t...

Re: Southend Airshow planning to return

It says on that Facebook group, ignoring the poor grammar, that it is a private venture, nothing to do with the council.
Whether it managed to get off the ground or not, at least someone is trying to bring it back. Also going for 2024 instead of trying to rush for 2023 seems sensible

Re: RIAT 2022 Feedback and thoughts

There was one queue that snaked around the car park, and after it initially looked like there was another queue forming at the camp site entrance, it looked to us as though they were all told to join the back of the single queue inside the car park. When we got to the campsite entrance, there was c...

Re: RIAT 2022 Feedback and thoughts

Didn't bother wandering down to queue until about 07:00 ( Blue car park ) but by then there appeared to be at least 4 separate branches, all converging near the entrance of Kempsford campsite. As usual, plenty of people seen just wandering out of the car park and either joining the queue wherever t...

Although this year’s air display will not include static displays at Jersey Airport and West Park in St Helier, Mr Higgins said he hoped that this aspect of the event would return in 2023. https://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2022/08/02/red-arrows-to-return-for-international-air-display/ Thanks for t...

I really enjoyed Friday and Saturday. Arrived around 7 on Friday, straight into the car park and joined the queue. We were inside the airfield at about 7:40. Saturday we arrived in the car park at about 6:00 and parked in the 2nd row, but the queue was about 3 times the length of the day before, wit...

Hilarious people are verging on taking Bear Grylls measures when the outlook says 26 Sat and 29 Sun. Cooler than many go on holiday to witness. I've been to Florida this year where the weather ranged from 28-35C for 2 weeks, but I didn't sit out in the open from about 8am to 7pm in an airfield. I w...

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy

One factor which may have contributed to the impression of a lack of organisation was that the rows of waiting vehicles were not in a strict right-to-left order, I do not know the reason for this, but it made no difference to when one entered the venue, so should not be a factor. We were parked in ...

We arrived early (9:00) as I took my dad who can't walk far so wanted to park as close as possible, tickets were checked and we waited in the holding area. At 9:30 they started letting in the cars in rows, we were row 5, and we were parked up in about 15 minutes, parked closer than when we went to a...

Word from an IWM volunteer is that "the powers that be" insisted on no pyros as it would potentially upset some attendees given the situation in Ukraine... absolute lunacy. People are too soft and easily offended these days. Much of the outrage and upset is orchestrated by the media. Divi...

At the most recent one you were allowed to walk around the site and the flight line before the show started and there were a couple of stools set up, I didn't wander over there to see what they were. The house was open for a tour as was the Swiss Garden, which was also open for a general wander and...

It was my first time at Shuttleworth and I thought it was really good. Also I loved the drive-in situation. Having you own personal space right by your car was so much more pleasurable rather than scrums along the flightline.
