Re: The Euro 2020 (in 2021) Thread

Really, really poor performance from England. I mean really poor.

Scotland were very good and arguably deserved to win. England pretty much offered nothing.

Very disappointing.

Re: The UKAR politics thread

Perhaps you’re right, but if it were Johnson (as it often is) I’d be equally critical as I often am. End of the day, blue, red, orange - it’s all performative bolycs. And I hate it. It’s cringe, stupid, crass, and who but those there are actually sat at home like YES LADS YOU HIT THAT WALL WITH A S...

Re: The UKAR politics thread

ED also said this: "People here felt ignored and taken for granted, and we listened. Sarah Green is going to take these concerns to Parliament and hold this appalling Tory government to account." So in terms of the LD/Con alliance of recent times, I think it's safe to say they are doing whatever the...

Re: The UKAR politics thread

Whilst I do agree with you Tommy, it's not as if they get much time in the spotlight these days. Maybe ED got a bit carried away, but it's so rare for them (the LD) to get any success these days I think you can almost forgive them. Almost. But yes, it's also pretty silly. And remember, they have jus...

Re: The UKAR politics thread

So I think you’re wrong on that. Chris - Sir Ed has even less charisma than Sir Keith (hang on - the only non-titled leader is Tory???); they need somebody like Paddy to rouse the masses. I also think the Tory-LD alliance is going to be a millstone around the LD necks for years ahead. You're right ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

To be fair, I could be very wrong, but I’m not aware of a single outdoor event or mass gathering that has fuelled a COVID spike since February 2020. I thought it was widely recognised that the Cheltenham Gold Cup race meeting and Liverpool vs. Athletico Madrid footie match, both in mid-March 2020, ...

The Italian's record at the moment is bonkers though. They'll take some beating for sure. And the Frecce Tricolori fly over the Wembley arch in celebration; "evviva evviva". Reminds me of The Battle of Britain film "We won't give up until they're marching down Whitehall. And even then we won't list...

Big difference between By elections & General elections Actually, I would argue for a lot of people - those who were voting yesterday - there isn't. You're still voting for your MP. We're not talking local elections here. It's the same as a GE in that respect and I think it sends a clear (although ...

These are so fab. You've posted that last one before I'm sure (not complaining btw!) and I commented on it last time - the way the shadows fall make it look like the aircraft are parked on the top of the mountain!

It's still here that's for sure. Weeks of barely any school closures near me and now three full closures this week alone.

I'm no pessimist, but I just have an inkling this is going to get worse (again) before it gets better (again).

The Italian's record at the moment is bonkers though. 29 games unbeaten, haven't lost a competitive game in Rome since 1953. Their keeper has been playing with the team for 7 years and has never conceded more than one goal in a game. And yeah, you don't score 6 international goals in a top tournamen...

Re: Clacton 150 Flypasts - 26th/27th August 2021

The BBMF flypasts normally consist of 3 or 4 passes, the RAFAT are one pass. I guess if they are launching just for that (or if that's the primary reason) they might do two? They have no display scheduled for the 26th, but are down for Sidmouth in Devon on the 27th. As an aside, the RAFAT website no...

Re: Who was your 'trigger' for your passion for all things aviation?

Both Grandfathers: One was an ROC Observer during WW2 and the other an RAF Chaplain. From the former it was his stories and his models. From the latter it was where he lived up in Lincolnshire, seeing the Phantoms etc... overhead when we sent to stay. Plus we had to drive right past Duxford on the w...

Agree with Rossbeef, even less of a contest than the Su-27.

Again, thank you. Andy, tried that, they fobbed it off back to school level to make the call. The line was "as long as you keep to national guidelines it's fine." I could video it, but I think it would be too faffy. I'm going by the bit that says "multiple groups [of 30] are allowed". So I think I'l...

Thanks guys. I think there's an element of 'I can, and after the rubbish of the last 18 months, I'd quite like to'! My gut feeling is that three groups of parents, each no more than 30, arriving in 15 minute time slots and sitting separately from each other should make it OK. The advice, although cl...

Right, someone help me out here, because I'm buggered if I can find the answer... I'm planning sports' day at my school for July 2nd.
