Re: RAF Flypasts VE Day

Twitter immediately full of comments about how many nurses that would that have paid for, polution, no one there to see it, etc etc. Makes you sick.

The dye team might want to explain why they just trailed three different shades of blue, mind you...

Re: Best Airshow That You Have Attended?

Just wish I was old enough to remember more of the Fighter Meet Airshows my Dad took me to in the late 80's / early 90's... the airfield attack scenarios stick in my mind, but the rest is hazy. That's a good point actually...even the basic old RAF 'At Home' days would have had some great content in...

Re: Best Airshow That You Have Attended?

I enjoyed the final Great Warbirds at Wroughton, and there was a particularly jolly Badminton air day around that period too- a lovely sweet tree-lined airstrip which served to make the Lancaster look all the bigger when she appeared.

Re: Red Arrows in 2019

So it's not as if people will really miss anything, is it? YOU might not think so, but the wider, general airshow going public adores them. Indeed to many, they ARE an airshow. They also serve as a symbol of something for this country to be proud of at occasions such as Royal flypasts and the like....

Compared to the narration on the 'Britain's Ultimate Pilots' series, it's a work of Shakespeare..!

Re: Red Arrows Documentary Out In 2019

I'd sooner take a positive attitude to any new aviation documentary appearing on one of the main channels, seeing how few there usually are. And as it turns out, this was truly behind the scenes, not blighted by rubbish music or awful OTT commentary style, warts and all (Accidents aside, I don't thi...

Re: RAFAT: In decline?

I don't think the Reds are in a decline at all- they do what they do very well, year in year out, and the general public love them; what a smaller proportion of more die-hard online enthusiasts think or want is fairly immaterial. But, I do fear that we may be into the last years of having the team a...

It was restored to flight, not restored to original/museum condition. It’s internally got some modern wiring, modern electrics , modern instruments and modern radio equipment. 'It looks like a Vulcan and sounds like a Vulcan, but it ain't a Vulcan'- direct quote to me from Andrew Edmondson, during ...

Re: Sunderland Airshow 2018

Must admit, for all that it's on my only real opportunity to see my beloved Lancaster each year and of course it's a free show, the crowds, very distant display line and fairly dull content just make it not worth bothering anymore.

Funny how the bomb doors on '474 have never quite fit right at the back end!

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

VTTST did not have a poor relationship with the OEMs. If they had, the OEMs would just have pulled the plug immediately. What happened (as is very well documented) is that Marshalls and RR felt they could no longer find the expertise within their organisations to sign off the Vulcan safely. It woul...

It's not the age of the name, it's the nauseating, cutesy-fluffy names for it that have taken hold in recent years, particularly across social media.

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Anyone trying to sell visits to XH558 as an authentic experience of a service Vulcan would be pushing the boundaries of the trade descriptions act. Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

No need to lock a thread because of one individual. 'disgruntled' and Dan were asked to take it private, yet 'disgruntled' is carrying the specific argument on- so it is the user who needs moderating, not the whole thread.

The circular arguing between individuals can get tiresome, but, I think it's imperative that somewhere has the balls to let VTTS be publicly questioned and kept to account (do your own jokes) in this manner- so, I say yay for UKAR.

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

It's nothing new that the big shots at the head of charities take big slices of money for their 'services', but, considering the constant begging and pleading (and veiled threats) for money over the years to keep 'the people's aircraft' flying, it definitely smacks of very poor moral form that quite...
