Re: RIAT 2014 - Participation Thread

According to her last tweet, Carol Vorderman should be wearing a skirt or a dress at RIAT today but she cannot fly wearing either of these, so if anyone sees her getting out of her aircraft today can we get a photo on the photos thread please!! :heyhey: Enjoy the weekend all!!

Re: E3 over Baldock

OK found the right thread!! So it was there alright but why? I noticed on another forum that an E-3 landed at MAN on 19th May 2014, does anyone know why? Is this routine or do I have to sign the official secret's act to find out?? :dunno:

Re: My RIAT 2012 thread

Fantastic shot! It is so crisp in that weather, but begs a question - just what are those batwings sticking up above the enging housing doing? Surely they are way too small to be of any braking assistance? Or are they to break up the airflow over the wings? Im sure one of you experts out there knows...

Re: XH558 at Farnborough

privatepile, do you rent out your garden for RIAT? If you can get shots like that you may end up with a few quid if you do, specially if you offer 'on base' parking. :heyhey:

Re: On base parking

Alex C, Delta Papa et al, I sympathise. I gave up after the 2010 security fiasco. SORELY tempted to go this year given the line up ( weather put me off ) but cannot stand the misery of getting in, and it seems if you get there early ( so you can get a good spot on the crowdline ) you get penalised! ...

Re: RIAT 2013 Public Theme

Are we due a Tiger meet? Seems from the pics there were a few Tiger-ish schemes on view this year.Cold War jets would be good.Any chance we can get the Blue Angels over for a head to head with the (returning to defend their trophy's ) Black Eagles?

Re: Thoughts on the show.

I did not go to RIAT this year because of the long queues, waiting to get in to the base, waiting to get in at the security barrier mularky last year, also because there was no BIG item on the display list. Sounds like I made the right decision. Can anyone say if the security and getting in had impr...

Re: Top 3 funniest aviation moments

Although I wasn't there the funniest would have to be that video of the B1 take off field carnage. Funniest thing used to be trying to wonder what airfield the USAF were displayed over, rather than the intended one! Any chance you can point me in the direction of said video clip Spiny Norman? Jezza

Re: RIAT 2010 Feedback

I am curious, like it seems a fair few others on here, as to what efforts those who want more more more, think RIAT have made, and should make. It seems to me, that some see it as oh so simple, when the reality is it is not. So rather than saying it's bad, suggest how (and not why) it could be bett...

USA Airshows

I have been attending UK airshows for 40 odd years but never been to any in the USA. Obviously quite a few of you guys ( and gals ) have so............. Recommendations ?( top 5 must visit shows ) How is security - RIAT 2010 experience or more relaxed / more tedious? Costs - RIAT level / FRIATlevel ...

Night show would be excellent And as they have balloons there so would a balloon glow. The days are long though and the staff need a break + time is also required to get the airfield uptogether for the following day. Re: Your two biggest issues about RIAT 2010

I think, personally, some of the powers that be decided that this year "Let's try something different", never mind if people moan , they'll still turn up on the day because we've already got their ticket money in the bank since we made entry "Advance tickets only". I just can't b...

ISSUE 1 - WHAT TIME DID YOU SAY YOU STARTED QUEUEING!? Subject - Queues, Queue Jumpers and getting through the Gate. Firstly some assumptions ( which can be challenged and shape the debate ) 1. Morning all, Yesterday, Rob Windsor replied on the 'RIAT 2010 Feedback' thread stating that if we collate our queries and issues about this year's RIAT together, this can be passed on to a meeting later in the next month. So I thought I'd start the thread asking you about your TWO biggest issues ab...

Re: RIAT 2010 Feedback

I think a new thread is definitly the way to go, with clearly defined description of what to submit. Thinking the thread should be started by a Mod/Administrator as it is a Submittal from UKAR and so it should be managed by the site. The idea is a good one and I for one are very appreciative of the...
