Re: RIAT 2019

We had a cracking day, despite the sun seeming to go in whenever I got the camera out. My three absolute highlights: The BOAC / Reds flypast, the Frecce Tricolore Italian flag arch to the music of Puccini and the wonderful Reds / PDF Concorde tribute. Fantastic. A word of warning however; anyone goi...

Re: RIAT 2019

Came here for the classic moaning UKAR comments after I saw this announced via Facebook... you lot didn't disappoint! :lmao: :lmao:

Oh me too. So many toys being thrown out of prams, we could get Toys R Us up and running again! And it's not even half-past seven yet! :lmao:

Re: Farnborough International Airshow 2018

If all of the trade show stuff stayed around for the weekend then it would have been one of the best shows of the year, but I knew what I was going to get long before handing my £40 over. This is where it definitely pays to be an enthusiast or otherwise in-the-know. I enjoy aircraft, but I'm nowher...

Can I be cheeky and ask where this specific part of the airfield was, I'm hoping to go tomorrow? Place yourself directly oppsite the control tower an...

Re: Farnborough International Airshow 2018

It was marketed as "FAB Friday", others can choose more appropriate "F Words" as it clearly was not FAB, Hear hear. I don't think I've ever felt as ripped-off at an airshow as I did yesterday (Friday) at Farnborough. It all started at the shuttle bus stop at the Queens Parade ca...

Re: Farnborough International Airshow 2018

If someone could post tomorrows (Friday's) flying schedule, I'd be eternally grateful. The official site still hasn't released today's times yet The website isn't very clear on a lot of things IMO. Plus it's hard to believe what it says when they have the Herc down as a 'Fighter Plane', the Tornado...

Re: RIAT 2018: Thoughts & feedback!

RIAT is a completely different show now to how it was back in the 20th century; even to how it was maybe 10 or 12 years ago. It's a corporate fest with an emphasis on money on the one hand, and 'the family' on the other (the latter being of the attitude that families don't want to admire and enjoy s...

Re: CWJ Bruntingthorpe, 27th May

It'd be really helpful to get some kind of definitive update from the CWJ team, or someone in-the-know. Their website doesn't look to have been updated and still says: "PLEASE NOTE THAT WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU CHECK THIS WEBSITE FOR UPDATES CLOSER TO THE DATE". (their caps and italics), and ...

Notwithstanding my perception that the actual jet just looks photoshopped every time I see it... Surely the photo posted by 'verreli' is photoshopped, though I'm happy to be proved wrong. Seriously !!! You’re telling me to read your post ? Have you never heard of sarcasm . I knew exactly which shad...

Re: RAF 100 Typhoon

You mean the same shade of blue that the most instantly recognisable aircraft of the RAF (the RAF Aeorobatic Team) wear ?

No, I mean the same shade of blue that's on the RAF Ensign - read the post, you'll find it really helps.

And another thing; wouldn't Air Force blue - as on the RAF ensign - have been far more appropriate to the anniversary than red?

All this says to me is 'corporate' & 'cheap'. What a dismal reflection on 100 years of history - and lives.

Well it's not as if we can say "Hmm, there's a B2 going to fly by; come on - let's get in the car and go to the show today as well". No - you have to buy tickets in advance; and they weren't any cheaper if you chose Saturday over Sunday, just not worth as much.

Re: Thunderbirds opinions

We were way over in 'yellow' (east p&v area), and thoroughly enjoyed the Thunderbirds. The commentary didn't bother us at all because, frankly, we couldn't hear it.
Having the Thunderbirds taxi by, park and shut-down right in front of us was a real treat.

Re: Cold War Jets, 28th May 2017

A good day was had at the CWJ day yesterday, but a little disappointed that there was yet again no Comet; Nimrod could only slow taxi (as could one of the Hunters and the Delphin), and the Victor shut down too soon, so the people at the far end of the crowd-line didn't get the 'noise'. For those of ...

Re: RIAT 2016 - Participants and Invited Countries Only Thre

I would rather have quality than quantity and quite happy with what has been announced so far. I'm the same, gone are the days where there's x number of tankers/hercs/fighers lined up, it's 2016 not 1994. One of the things I remember from the early days of UKAR is the number of post-RIAT comments b...

Re: Cold War Jets, 29th May 2016

Anyone know what happened to the Nimrod? as it was already on the runway making noise when I arrived but shortly after it was parked up near the comet and never moved again and despite info on the speakers about the unservicability of other aircraft I didn't hear the Nimrod mentioned. Apparantly th...
