Re: Moffett Federal Airfield, California - 18 November 2010

There was actually a pair of F/A-18C Hornets and a C-5(M?) Galaxy there as well, but they had arrived (and departed?) before I got into position...it could have been better, but it could've been worse by going all that way for nothing, as is usually my luck. I'm just glad I got this thing...I went h...

Re: Moffett Federal Airfield, California - 18 November 2010

Thanks, guys.

We get VDA Condors into Moffett about once a month or so, give or take...just depends on luck of the draw. Given I live about 120 miles away from Moffett, it's hit-or-miss. You have to contend with making it in time, compounded with traffic snarls and the lot...it sucks at times.

Re: 61-2662 RC-135S

Lovely! I agree, that banking shot is a gem! As for the black wing, yes the previous explanation is true...for the older Cobra Ball airframes. With the newer systems in use, it's no longer necessary to paint the right wing and engines black...they do it purely for traditional reasons now. At least t...

I'm sad to say I have absolutely NO F3 photos...but the ones I've seen on here are real beauties! It'll be sad to see 'em go.

Thanks! Yeah, we scored big with VFA-94...not sure what sort of luck we would have had elsewhere, but then things change over time. I wasn't sure we were going to get anywhere actually, with it being all post-9/11 and with deployments to OEF going on...but there we were.

I wonder why they think covering up "Iraqi" is going to make us think they're not Iraqi planes?

Re: Heathrow 27R - There Be Sun!

It's really killed by the heat haze unfortunately I think. Great angle though, and nice timing. I agree on both counts...although heat haze is not something you can control. That is a wonderful shot, regardless! Don't feel bad...I have heat haze all over one of my landing shots at Lemoore, just goe...

Stunners, Mick...those are real gems! The F-4 is a plane that is fast disappearing from the world's skies...still a few countries flying them yet, but they're going to be gone soon.

Cheers, Ian...yeah I tend to bring a little bit of fireworks to the board, don't I? I've spent the better part of the last year and a half working on me, my schooling, and my family...not quite so quick to get into conflict. Besides, with this being a British board, I have to come to expect that. Ye...

I know what you mean...when I was there with the 95th RS, I used to wish I could get some inside shots (occasionally did too), but spent most of my time in the field as well. For some reason, they'll give y'all ramp tours and let you guys bring your cameras, but they frown on Americans doing it for ...
