Re: Leuchars QRA
Would have been ideal new home for the Reds too For extending the journey to most shows by hundreds of miles? Given the official position for why the Waddington air show was discontinued I wouldn't have thought it was the most suitable location for the aerobatics team. As for distance from Leuchars...

Is anyone at all curious how the show will pan out or function next year, I assume there will be some big changes for us all there? Anyone have any ideas or opinions? how many times? you've already had one thread locked for asking this. the simple fact is no one knows but I'm guessing the assumptio...

I felt I could pin point some footage, definitely Farnborough and Chivenor, also St Mawgan specifically 1970-72.

i suspect that we won't end up giving the contract to Huawei. Re: Footage of RAF Gaydon "At Homes" 1960s
Brilliant link, thanks. Such memories. The days when living in Worcestershire meant a number of shows were less than a 2 hour journey away! My first Gaydon "At home" was 68, as shown in this footage the great thing for me was that you often got more than one of some types, still remember ...

Re: Footage of RAF Gaydon "At Homes" 1960s
Very interesting, thanks for posting. The BMA Herald, I thought that looked more like the original viewing area at East Midlands? Steve I think you're more likely correct Steve, I presumed it may be Elsdon given the close proximity to Gaydon therefore the likelihood the cameraman would have been at...

Re: Footage of RAF Gaydon "At Homes" 1960s
Hi Amp,
The B-66s, Beverley and Argosy were, I think, all filmed during the 1964 display. You'll notice the bit in the middle with the British Midland Herald, I believe this is at Birmingham Elsdon Airport. Most of the stuff at Gaydon after that is during the 1966 Display.

What centenary takes place next year folks? All on this forum should know it! FB :cuppa: Of course! The Air Navigation Act of 1920 was granted assent on 2 December 1920, gazetted on 11 February 1921, came into force on 28 March 1921 and became law on 28 June 1921. Regulations under the Ac...

Just the general excitement of attending an Airshow and seeing the Red Arrows and The RAF Typhoon Display amongst others. I don't not look forward to these, but honestly, as they are, year in year out, all there is, apart from the Tutor, BBMF and the Falcons. Not to mention the attendant hype, merc...

Re: What will you miss most without airshows this year?
As others have said - the social aspect, meeting up with friends, simply chatting to the person next to you, who you have never met before, but both with a common interest. That can be a minus as well as a plus, the last ting you want is someone saying 'so do you think the red arrows 'll be on late...

Re: Lossiemouth from the Fence in the Sixties
Further to my previous post, might I be permitted to make a couple of observations. Firstly, the 2 Meteors are both Royal Navy target tugs. You can make out the "Royal Navy" marking on the fuselage on at least one occasion, and the wing mounted winch is also clearly visable. Secondly, the...

I wonder if, now, at 24,000 confirmed deaths globally even with many countries literally under lockdown to keep the figure as low as possible, people who earlier posted in this thread are prepared to reevaluate their blasé comments. Nothing like a damn good "I told you so" eh Wissam24! FB

Re: RAF Cosford Airshow 2020 - 14th June 2020
I would read this as 'postponed to 2021' to be honest. Be lovely to think it could still happen this year, but given that the earliest date would likely be sometime in September, and that the season generally ends by the end of September, I'd say a postponement to any time this year, however welcom...

Its like having vultures on here at the moment! Absolutely, it was always possible that some, possibly all, might cancel simply because they can't predict what's going to happen. But I've always been suspicious of what appears at times to be a far too easy and eager expectation of the worst coming ...

I think you're spot on I hadn't read this post prior. Regarding Coningsby, I think the last actual open day was in June 1993, any events following were likely families days.

Re: Really sad no big Lincolnshire airshows
A little surprised Coningsby never has an Airshow... You might like to research that one a bit more. I've been to several Coningsby airshows over the years. Indeed Sir, but the last one was in 1993. I suppose Unknown 74's point is why not since? Especially given the thread title and the dearth of m...
