Re: Northolt Night Photoshoot XXV Thursday 18th October 2018
I could be wrong but weren't running aircraft introduced midway through the nightshoots? I don't remember people moaning about the lack of them in the early days, I definitely went to one where there weren't any engine runs and it wasn't expected. It's a shame to lose them but not the end of the wor...

Re: Hyakuri trip car help required
I booked with Toyota rent a car in November and the desk agent at Narita asked me if I wanted a ETC card. Worked flawlessly and the charge was added to the card I booked with a couple of weeks after returning home. So you should be asked, or you can request it, with Toyota at least.

Re: Iranian wrecks and relics
Hi, nice shots of an interesting place. My attention was drawn to this thread as I'm pretty sure that's my photo of the Tomcat on the billboard! Do you have any idea what it was advertising and where it was exactly? Just interested, thanks.

The 81st FS were due to fly their final sortie at the Spangdahlem Open House next month, not sure if that's changed with the cancellation of the show? Either way they won't be around for many more weeks so get a move on Phil!

Yep you're correct. I must admit I stopped going years ago and nothing they are doing would entice me back I'm afraid.

Re: Canon 1DS Mk III or 5D Mk III
If you need the build quality and handling/speed of the 1 series body then the 1Ds Mk III but if you want the best sensor at the slight expense of speed/buffer then the 5D3.

Re: RIAT 2013
It seems everyone missed the Hellenic F-16 from the 13/12 update, if thats true thats a great little addition. Though we are so used to F-16 displays, I cant remember the last if ever, the Hellenic one displayed. And given the financial situation in Greece I think that would be quite a rare item at...

Re: Canon 70-200 f/2.8 or Canon 300mm f/4 + 2x TC?
You might have to stop down a bit from the widest aperture to improve the quality of the 2x but that's getting easier to do with the newer bodies easily handling iso 800-1200. Personnally speaking I would go with the sharper 1.4x and crop afterwards, especially with the 300 f4 as that combo is still...

Yep, an essential part of the show but RIAT don't make a big thing about it on their home page, because it isn't that important.

Re: RIAT Commentary: An Announcement
I don't really think it means a jot who is warbling in the background at shows. Do you really think a single person bases their decision on whether to attend on the commentary? It's a side show to what really matters, the aircraft.

I was just challenging Dunk's accusation that professionals should give up earning a living for charity. If he has a problem go direct to DBH and ask all the full time staff to resign and work for nothing.

RAF Queen's Birthday flypast June 16th.
Just the one shot. I wonder if that was the VC-10s final appearance in a London flypast?

Re: Arctic Tiger Meet 2012, Ørland/Norway
I think it was just an ATC issue, as the Pumas departed directly east to keep well clear of the fast jet launches. They were the only Helo sqn there. Also, the Tiger Meet is not just a glorified piss up, Surely that misapprehension was buried years ago! It's a large NATO exercise and no natiion woul...

Re: Olympic flame arrives at Culdrose
If we think the whole thing is an appalling waste of money and resources we will criticize what we feel worthy of criticism. And correct me if I am wrong but every modern Olympic Games has been ready on time - even Beijing - and every nation assumed that its games would be the ones to really be a s...
