Re: Aircraft storage question.

Aircraft can be parked up for up to a week with no issues. Some of the aircraft you see parked up will be rotated with ones that are still flying so they are not stored for too long at one time. Short-term storage will involve starting the engines, running the air con packs and other systems, jacki...

Re: Future of Airshows in the EV World

Biggest problem with charging points is for people in shared/terraced housing, apartment blocks etc. When I was in the UK I would have been the ideal candidate for an electric car, with a commute of about 7 miles and living a couple of miles from the city centre, but why would I pay upwards of 25 gr...

Re: JARTS. 2 Tornados to Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre

Tailfin was set to be roaded back to RAF Marham for mounting outside a 2Sqn facility? Anybody know more about what really happened? :dunno:

It definitely went to 2 Sqn's HAS site at Lossiemouth, no idea if its still there.

Nope, it just means you can't say what you want on a private forum used by a tiny percentage of the population. Feel free to debate anywhere else. I see Iain's point but with the lack of activity elsewhere Off Topic has probably been keeping the site busy.

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon DA4 moving to Newark Air Museum

There's a few Tornados in museums with similarly built RB199s. No compressors, turbines, gearboxes, pumps, wiring harnesses etc. Just enough modules to hang an exhaust system on.

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon DA4 moving to Newark Air Museum

is there any opportunity to ask RR or the RAF (as a donation ) to let you have a pair of withdrawn from use EJ200 reheat nozzles to at least make the aircraft look complete? Andy, there's no way of attaching the variable exhaust nozzle to the aircraft, so you'd need a front jet pipe which has the r...

Re: Airliner loading

They include boarding people in window seats first, starting at the back, followed by middle then aisle seats. Gatwick said different boarding methods could reduce the journey from airport gate to seat by about 10%. The airport operator says that the window-to-aisle seat pattern of boarding is best...

Re: Airliner loading

Of course not, they've got to board together. I'm talking about the majority of passengers travelling alone. The problem as we all know is the carry-on luggage. People are so scared they'll have to put it in the hold they rush on to find a space in the overhead locker, then have to get up and block ...

Why not board the window seats, then middle, then aisle? Saves people having to get out of their seats when I get on last with my window seat.

Filton is most closely associated with the RB199, although (from Wiki):

The model number of many Rolls Royce jet engines start with the initials RB (e.g. RB199) which stands for Rolls Barnoldswick, as Rolls Royce aero's design centre was situated in Barnoldswick
