Air France A350m and Patrouille de France

Air France has released a short video of an aerial celebration of their new A350 aircraft 'performing' with the Patrouille de France.
A well shot 2 minutes of video to be fair.

Re: Eye in the sky......

Norman, I don't know if you do Facebook but ion you do, go along to www.facebook.com/WaltonRNLI We had a shout Friday to a homebuilt 70 ft catamaran that had lost its anchor in the winds. All the pictures you'll see are of the same river (looking very different) the number of workboats we needed to ...

Re: Eye in the sky......

Norman, Looking through my Lightroom sets, I don't have a similar shot with any tide in the channels. The best I can offer is a shot from almost the reverse angle taken a while ago that shows the tide at around about half height I reckon. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49614473052_3554243d99_h....

Eye in the sky......

As we are probably seeing the back of the last of the settled weather periods of several days at a time, I thought I'd sort my images from some of my drone flights over the last few months. Most are based around my local area in North Essex and are a mix of images taken whilst doing commercial drone...

Time Line Events- Photoshoot Days

Wasn't entirely sure whether to split these into current and past aircraft but decided to treat them all as one group of 'visit' photos. I know opinions on photoshoot events is divided and I have no wish to open that debate bu these are a few that I chose to sign up for and get the chance to try for...

Vulcan XM655 - Wellesbourne

I was fortunate enough to receive some TLE vouchers for a recent birthday and started using them this weekend by attending the afternoon and night shoot with the Vulcan at Wellesbourne Airfield. I know night shoots aren't everyones cup of tea (price, staging, subject matter, etc.) but this was a rea...

Two Chinooks Low and Fast on North Essex Coast

Very rare sight this morning for my neck of the woods. Heard an unusual beating noise in the air and looked out of my study window to find myself looking directly at a low-level Chinook heading across the fields towards me having just crossed the coast between Frinton and Holland. Very murky and rai...

Re: Turkish Prime Ministers helicopter over Essex coast?

It just seemed a bit odd, especially the direction it arrived from over the coast and the low level? Looking around it seems there are two operated by the Turkish Police as VIP transports for the President and other Govt. Officals. There are a few photos kicking around on the net of them in action. ...

Turkish Prime Ministers helicopter over Essex coast?

Saw a Red and White S92 pretty low coming over the coast at Walton this morning. Got home 5 minutes later and looked it up on Radr360to see its apparently the Turkish PM's official Transport? Seems odd to be over here and travelling so low? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10218546523836909&a...

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Drones

I guess its about location and right time right place. A drone at 400ft up and 500m away can be hard to see when you're looking for it in order to keep line of sight. If you're at one end of the runway and the drone is flying around 1.5 miles away at the other end, or over to the far side by the ter...

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Drones

I'd assume you can yes. But I'm sure that might open up all sorts of issues about doing something like that in an area around an airport? Infrastructure is a tough thing to secure all round. An organisation that just wants to cause disruption rather than casualties has literally hundreds of ways the...

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Drones

On the range issue, I fly a Phantom 3 Pro, a Phantom 4 Pro and an Inspire 1. They are limited in terms of legality to a maximum range of 500m from me and always in VLOS. However, the Phantom 4 is good for up to 2.8km-3km straight out of the box. Disable the restrictions in the set-up (its a tick box...

Re: Gatwick Airport Closed Due to Drones

I fly drones as part of my work under CAA PfCO and this incident won't help the reputation that they have by any means! The last sighting report I saw said one was visible at 08:45. I'd be surprised if they carry on in daylight for long. You could relatively easily use several off the shelf drones t...

Thanks for the comments. It really is a surreal location.
Stating the obvious it really is like nowhere else but I must say its given me a taste for the urban exploration/abandoned sites field of photography.

Chernobyl - October 2018

Perhaps a bit strange but I've always wanted to visit the exclusion zone around Chernobyl! Having seen so many iconic images over the years from the abandoned city and the plant itself I was keen to visit and try for myself. MY 50th birthday earlier this year provided the opportunity with a city bre...

This is the last of the selection from my trip to the Ukraine in October. Re: Oleg Antonov State Aviation Museum - Kiev (Part 1)

Flankerman, no the steps were taped off but the hatch above was open. There was an older Ukrainian gentleman there in faded blue uniform that seemed to have been crew on that type. He was very keen to tell me about it but my lack of Ukrainian and his minimal English meant we had a very long conversa...

Oleg Antonov State Aviation Museum - Kiev (Part 1)

My 50th birthday present from my wife was a 5 day trip to Kiev, specifically involving a tour out to Chernobyl and the abandoned city of Pripyat. However our stay gave me the opportunity to visit the absolute gem that is the Ukrainian State Aviation Museum. About a 25-30 minute drive out of the city...

Suffolk NOTAM - Wednesday 30th May

Not sure if anyone lives out Bawdsey or Shingle Street way but saw this while planning some drone flights this weekend. I assume its the assets based at Mildenhall but given the location, I assume they are parachuting into the sea? Depending on the time and how far out they are you may or may not se...
