Re: Do airshow organisers ever consider static placings?

Yes, they do consider the parking of the static aircraft. However, there are a lot more things to consider than just to please us photographers. Unfortunately for us photographers, health and safety plays a big role in placement of barrier and cones in the UK. Today, crowd management is priority No....

A Dam good day

Just one for now. Shot in Scotland on its way back from RAF Coningsby to RAF Lossiemouth. As you can see, the weather wasn't great, but hey, it is a front liner low level!: http://www.aeroimage.co.uk/6/BerryVissers-20130321-7057.jpg Cheers, Berry http://www.dambusters70.com

Re: Just three from RIAT (plus five more in arty-farty vein)

Really liking the 'mirrored' effect on the German Sea King MadDan, but it is particularly special on the Dutch Lion. Not sure about the crop on the Osprey though, nor the angle on the gorgeous Colombian C-130. The monochrome conversion of the MiG-29 works a treat! Maybe you could add a little grain ...

Re: IAT nonsense

Another issue is the aggressiveness of the RAFBF. This comment has caused offence indeed. Can people please get their facts right when they post, as the RAFBF has nothing to do with RIAT any more and has had nothing to do with them for a good number of years now. RIAT is run by the RAF Charitable T...

Re: Poster Printing

Simple maths: image required: 100cm x 50 cm: equals approximately 40" x 20" If you want to print at 240 ppi (pixels per inch), you need to have an image of: (40 x 240 =) 9,600 pixels by (20 x 240 =) 4,800 pixels. The resulting image will be 9,600 x 4,800 = 46,080,000 bites. This has to be ...

Re: tornado F3s at Leeming

The RTP Team at RAF Leeming doesn't have the equipment to bench check the components they recover for the GR4 fleet. Hence the reason for starting the engines and check systems before they get removed. All about RTP (and much more) can be found in the recently published Tornado F3 - 25 Years of Air ...

No need to download additional bits from Adobe if you have CS5 - Select the images you would like to create a contact sheet with in Bridge and click the 'output' tab (or hit Cmd F4). Here you can either create a pdf contact sheet or a web gallery.

Unknow 74: unfortunately, that might be a little bit difficult - the finished books (188 pages, over 400 pictures and illustrations) got delivered today. On this very same day the (nearly finished) special scheme rolled out of the paint shop at RAF Leuchars. I guess you have to get a Squadron Print ...

Re: Canon 70-200 f2.8 L MkII

Like Rob, I use a 70-200/2.8 IS L (not the MkII) and I find that, when paired with a 1DS MkIII, this lens is superb, even in low light using wide apertures. However, when using the exact same lens on the 7D, it is near hopeless with wide apertures and many shots end up in the bin. The same lens on t...

Re: Commons Debate on RAF Leuchars

Maybe I've missed it, but were in the SDSR or in any released papers about the Defense cuts has it been mentioned that any of the two bases to be shut will be fighter bases? Maybe there will be a massive relocation of training assets? Will Linton stay open with just one full Tucano training squadron...

It is the Belgian variant of the Dutch Penguin. They migrate to England in extreme circumstances, but this one must have got lost as you have snapped it north of the border...

The 2010 RAF Hawk Display Team have just VERY generously donated no less than £500!!! We can't but thank them enough for this enormous gift! We feel confident that, thanks to everybody, we will reach our target. Less than £900 to go to get to £10.000! Brilliant!!!!! Thank you all very much, Gill, Ma...

Lenny, a gent and a GR4 pilot, has set up a 'Just Giving' page to try and raise another £2000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund in four days so we can hopefully present a check for £10.000 in stead of £8.000. See here: http://www.justgiving.com/Northern-Exposure Will this be possible? Please pass this aro...

Yes, this book is still available for £24.99 plus post and packing. ALL proceeds are going to the RAFBF and therefore the price will remain the same.

Please send Mark or myself an e-mail to order one.

2010 Hawk Display air to air

Yesterday I was a very lucky boy when I was able to shoot some air to airs of the 2010 Display Hawk. A very nice colour scheme it is. Just the one picture for now, but more can be seen on their own website. It will be at Perth too during the Heart of Scotland Air show! www.RAFHawkDisplay.com http://...
