Re: Royal Navy International Air Day, Yeovilton

Lovely pics on such a dismal day. Your caption under the Harrier that says 'refuelling' is incorrect. It's taking on de-min water which is needed to enable the Harrier to hover. Refuelling us done under pressure through a large specialised fuel pipe, not a hose pipe.

Saw her head away from Yeovilton this morning, in the direction of The Loop. So seeing the footage here is ........ WOW, if only my mobility scooter would get me up there!!!

Thanks ever so for sharing

Re: Airshow first timer tips

I can't see it mentioned in any of the other replies to your question, but if you have a 5 year old with you I guess you'll need plenty of loo stops, which is always the issue with Fairford. There are usually portaloos in the car parks before you get through the security at the entrances, then it'll...

Re: Less than 4 months to go, time to worry about the W word

After 'doing' airshows for more years than we care to remember, we've learnt to pack for 'all eventualities', ie from sun cream factor 30 to flippers, waterproofs to parasols, ice blocks to thermos flasks. That way, no matter what 'mummy nature' chucks at us, we're prepared. It seems to us, the only...

Re: New CAA CAP 403 Display Regs Published

I have no probs at all with the un-interested being protected, but what has that got to do with the so called 'naughty fields', where I guess everyone is more than interested, a lot of the fields or vantage points in question don't have many residents who could be called uninterested, so leave them ...

Re: New CAA CAP 403 Display Regs Published

What a travesty. Another case of Mr 'elf and Mr Safety sticking their noses into places they shouldn't. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say..... Give me a form and I'll sign any disclaimer and take full responsibility for my own safety should anything fall on top of me or my property when I'm taking p...

Re: disabled visitors

We were among the early birds last year and got parked up easily in the disabled enclosure, it was well signed and marshalled. It's all on hard standing and with several wheel chair accessible porta loos actually in the area. However, there are a few downsides to the disabled 'area'. It is quite a l...

Re: Car Parking

I have a blue badge and won't be able to walk to the static line up or indeed anywhere away from the disabled car park, can anyone enlighten me as to which direction to drive in from to be routed to the disabled car park please. Last time we came in via the back lanes from Bridgnorth way and were es...

Re: Air show disabled parking

We have parked in the Disabled Car Park for the last few years. So we can with total honesty give some advice to anyone who has never parked in it for Waddington Airshow. Unlike Cosford, which I agree is brilliant for the disabled enthusiast, the car park that you will be parking in on Saturday and ...

2014 - Arrivals on Tuesday query

Does anyone yet know for sure whether there will be any mass arrivals and/or practises on the Tuesday please, we have got a bit lost with all the new rules and regulations and the additional Red Arrows day on the Friday. We are fairly certain that it won't only be ourselves who will need to confirm ...

High tailed over Yeovilton area

11am to 11.30am doing a couple of circuits over the Yeovilton area, high tailed, rear engine jet, looked like a Sentinel but without the lumps and bumps underneath, possibly VC10 at high level, couldn't see clearly as didn't have specs on, made a lovely sound as it beat up our village before circuit...

Re: USAF involvement 2014

We agree, we think an airshow is just that, a show in the air. This years airshow was rather good, we would have loved to have heard the Conny flutter by us a bit more, shame she didn't fly on either of the days, maybe next year. The memory of the wonderful Raptor displaying at previous shows is har...

Jersey 2014 Date

Thanks ever so much for that, was thinking it would be that date, looks like we'll just have to submit leave requests for then and keep our fingers crossed that it's correct.

Jersey 2014 date

I know it's early and probably a very daft question, but has the date for the 2014 airshow been fixed and/or announced yet please as our holiday dates for 2014 have to be submitted within the next week or so.

Just trying not to get over excited, as no doubt it'll be the World War 1 Re-enactment brigade or worse still what about the flour balloon busting tiny little prop jobs.

Shame really, would love a Fencer!!!!!! Would however settle for a Bear, any Bear would do.

Come on 5pm, come on!!!

Re: Is there a 2013 date yet please

Thanks ever so for finding out the dates for me. Yes I totally agree, but that's how it is I'm afraid, hence why I'm after 2013 dates now. It does drive us potty, but at least have a job to fund our time away at airshows, so can't really grumble. Will now get the holiday request paperwork sorted, su...

Is there a 2013 date yet please

It's that time of year again and holiday date requests for 2013 are now required upon the boss's desk for approval, yes I know it's early, but that's how it is I'm afraid. After countless searches we haven't found any mention of a date for a Waddo 2013 airshow anywhere, does anyone know for sure wha...
