Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
Wryneck, this you? Worldwide panic created by nothing more then the media and yes sadly the hysteria will probably lead to the cancellation of lots of summer events, including airshows... :wall: Total WORLDWIDE Coronavirus deaths = approx. 3,000 UK winter flu deaths every winter = approx. 8,000 WORL...

Obvs, pinch of salt and everything, but;
Neat vid and confirmation of a Wildcat demo next year. I’m a Leonardo fan girl, so I’m biased, but it’s a neat little machine - look forward to seeing its display!

Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
I still think from a practical level, RIAT will indeed be safe to go ahead (with some mitigation and as a smaller event than normal), but obviously insurance companies don’t like the risks. Who knows. A new vaccine-resistant variant may pop up and we go back to square one.

Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
now you can chastise and mock my comments as much as you like I don’t see why anyone would, you’re talking some compelling points. It seems to me that insurance is a killer. The Government seems determined not to back some sort of cancellation scheme and events can’t get insurance in the event that...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
Very disappointed with the BBC editorial decision yesterday to be asking the government when they expected lockdown to end. We are barely 3 weeks into the new lockdown, the government have continually briefed that they were not going to review the situation until mid Feb at the earliest, there are ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
without wishing to fan the Daily Excess flames I do have to ask the obvious question why does a predominantly trading body (the EU) have control over member states' supplies of any vaccine? Because the Commission proposed a joint vaccine policy for member states to agree to, which they did, and tha...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
The mental health of the nation in lockdown is very obviously detrimentally impacted. I know that mine is. Add to that the impact on the economy, lack of education, uncertainty, and the awfully crappy time of year anyway. Lockdowns are not at all pleasant. But not locking down is much much worse. As...

Re: Any Russian MiG-21's flying?
I’ve certainly not heard of any. Would be quite fascinating if so. Any testbeds, aggressors, chase-planes and the like are much more likely to be filled by ageing MiG-29s or Su-27s these days. The Russian armed forces, particularly the fighters, are actually a very very modern force these days - far...

Well, quite. As far as I know there’s only one actual “sexual” allegation against him. There are several more “inappropriate invasions of space” but none that the women involved say “was of a sexual nature”. I’d like for the allegations to have their day in court, but they’re quite different to Trump.

Oh we're only allowed to criticize a President when it's Trump then? That really would be #pathetic Biden’s speech is absolutely excellent. Light years ahead of any syllable Trump has ever uttered or will ever utter. A triumph of hope, decency, love, kindness, and respect. You love to see it. Was t...

Re: Presidential Election 2020
Biden is accused of it. Trump confessed. So there is a difference. But I’d like to see Biden accountable for that. I want to see those accusations heard and for evidence and a finding of guilt or innocence to be made. It may be that he’s not guilty. It may be that he is, in which case he needs to be...

Re: Is anybody happy with the Brexit white paper?
"That’s why we have proportional representation." ? I can't argue with your points re having a poorly educated electorate (my mum is exhibit A), so it becomes a wider issue re Brexit and applies to the whole principle of a referendum. The danger is that it seems to be the losers who conveninetly co...

Although in numerical terms Trump’s pardoning a now are pretty much in line with Obama, Bush, Clinton etc. Obviously in content, they’re quite far apart.
But yeah, such a horrid system.

Re: Is anybody happy with the Brexit white paper?
A couple of points: "“freedom” to study, live, work, settle, build a life in an EU nation. That’s freedom in context. " Lovely in theory but look at the demographic of those who use/exploit these freedoms and contrast that with the many poor and/or working class voters who selcted leave (and turned...

Re: Is anybody happy with the Brexit white paper?
It is an insight, and it’s one that Remainers understood, because it’s simple to understand. But it’s still meaningless. And I think that’s something Brexiters refuse to understand. How does “freedom from the EU” outweigh the freedom we lost with Brexit? As I said - we now don’t have the “freedom” t...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
Ohh yeah, 100% agree on that - I think it’s the correct strategy. Just that language is a bit lax. I don’t think it’s fair to say “X number have received their vaccinations” when they’ve only received their first shot, rather than full programme. Someone is only “vaccinated” once they receive their ...

Re: Is anybody happy with the Brexit white paper?
Let's not forget the actual cost of brexit either. How many billions, so far.. I don't really want to look it up, but huge amounts of cash has been spent on the whole thing and will continue to be, largely duplicating what we had access to before. From the very *very* pro-Brexit Express in Septembe...

Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
I think whatever the situation is, RIAT need to get some sort of PR going to tell people, even if they haven’t made a decision, what the latest is. It’d be interesting to hear the difficulties they face, which is easy, and which are problematic, and what the alternatives are if it must cancel or pos...
