Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

With regards to blaming the students, we all know how parents dote on their children and every child is a little angel who always follows the rules, I wonder if parents simply won't stand for it if their kids are blamed and denied the right to go home at xmas as is clearly possible now. They can’t ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I’m not sure that’s a cynical position, but rather a factual one. Lectures, events, and all other university activities are electronic, and there is therefore absolutely zero need for those students to have been pushed into moving into halls of residence, and then being locked in there with people t...

I probably stand with a minority of people with this, but I think heads should roll for the catastroshambles of the universities. It’s weapons-grade incompetence, grubbiness, and cynicism.

Tommy at St Athan

I genuinely think that this is only the second time I’ve posted in this section of the forum! 😂 I saw that G-CIVK was undertaking her final flight to St Athan yesterday. And thought it’d be rude not to head down to catch it. I’ve not spotted at St Athan before per se, so a Brussels Airlines A319 gav...

https://twitter.com/jburnmurdoch/status/1309148871730368518?s=21 Absolutely disastrous. We could have a government as competent as New Zealand, but if this is how the public treats the virus, we’re all screwed for a long time. Hopefully the now released test and trace app will help things, and the ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Quite relentless incompetence. It really does feel like a reactionary government. They look at the morning papers, brick it, and then go on TV. It doesn’t exactly feel that they have control over this, given two senior ministers are completely contradicting each other in a very short space of time. ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

They won’t dish out £10,000 fines. The higher the fine, the greater the risk of injustice if the authorities are wrong, and therefore the harder it is to administer, and find someone liable to pay it. There may be one or two really really blatant “example” cases (like Corbyn’s brother) for the paper...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Ooh, I don’t think so. Can you imagine Corbin trying to deal with COVID? We’d have had a lockdown but anyone could have chosen to opt out if they found it offensive or it hurt their feelings. We’d now be having a referendum on whether we should have a second lockdown or not. Diane Abbott would have...

https://twitter.com/kayburley/status/1307596594200576000?s=21 It really is quite contemptible to lay the blame wholly at the public’s feet. I appreciate there a few knobs in a thousand and I hope they are fined, like what happened in Newport, but by and large the public have endured lockdown, not s...

How do you always get such good light when you go to FFD?! 😂

Good shots as per your usual standards, pal. Interesting to see bomb-bay doors open on some of the taxi shots. I’ve not seen (or noticed) BUFFs do that before.

The other thing as well is that the economic seriousness of the issue is also somewhat diluted by the government ploughing on with Brexit, rather than seeking to delay the process with the EU. Johnson can talk all he can about the Importance of the economy, but in the same breath he carries on with ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Indeed. I can get the logic, but the execution seems a bit pish. The point of lockdown, and the economic devastation it has wrought, was twofold. To stop the NHS from being overwhelmed, which succeeded, and to set up an adequate testing and tracing programme, which has failed. We can’t keep going th...
