I tend to think they are as much use in reminding people to keep their distance as to actually stop the virus spreading.
Hadn’t thought much of this, but I think it’s a good point.

It’s not a game or an academic tit for tat. This is people’s lives.

Either you’ve got a point to make, in which case make it, or you don’t and are just prancing around the thread seeking attention.

The public domain data makes it obvious what the solution should be.
So obvious that you didn’t say what it is, huh?

Re: Norwegian F-16 Thread

Just a note to those with larger archives than others able to fill out plenty of numbers on the list - try to hold fire on some of the more common ‘frames to give everyone a fair crack. If after a few days/weeks the gaps are still unfilled, so please add them then 🙂

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

It’s worth noting that it’s reached a point where mask wearing, even mandatory, won’t fix things. Much more needs to be done. Wales still has its mask policy and has the UK’s worst COVID + rate at the moment. And no, before anyone tries to make correlation = causation, this isn’t proof that masks do...

Very nice. I’ve heard about the new C-17 tail art but this is the first image I’ve seen of it.

Great catches!

Re: The Historic Helicopters Thread

And, just today, *another* Lynx, XZ188, has been delivered to North Weald for a period of storage before she undergoes an assessment to consider her future.

That’s three Lynx AH7s at NW now, the other is XZ678 as well as XZ179 thats soon to fly.

I’ve been driving the staff nuts for years on the group chat about how I’d love a massive helicopter-focused airshow.

Re: The Historic Helicopters Thread

Not just Historic Helicopters (apologies for going slightly off topic) - North Weald are practically churning out Wasps and Scouts. And they have a pair of Lynx AH7s, one of which is extremely close to flight (XZ179) and another they’ve just taken delivery of in the past few days - I forget the ref ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Time to man up. Absolutely right. Time for everyone in this country to stop being such babies about wearing a piece of cloth over our face that is demonstrably beneficial in terms of reducing the spread of the virus. That’s, for the life of me, what I cannot understand - how masks, friggin masks, b...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The biggest problem with COVID restrictions debate, and this is entirely down to government incompetence, is that a great many believe that any debate about restrictions is “lockdown or nothing”. Even discussing low-cost measures like mask wearing makes people uneasy because every time that has happ...

Live stream if anyone is interested - I think it’s a lunchtime (local) departure.

Heading to Yeovil first for customs (and a nice little homage to Westlands) and then the short hop to Chard.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

For what it’s worth - we aren’t “testing more”, though. Recently we peaked with tests at about 1.2m per day at the very start of September, and have now been averaging about 900k tests a day since (actually tests are on a very - probably statistically insignificant - very slightly downward trend) So...

Also worth noting that Historic Helicotpers have recently taken a Royal Navy SAR HU5 in for restoration to airworthy condition.

Plus the Widgeon, plus the Lynx, plus the remainder of their excellent fleet!

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Once again, it’s all the same stuff, isn’t it. “Cases are rising but hospitalisations aren’t!”, then; “Hospitalisations are rising but deaths aren’t!”, then; “Deaths are rising but how many of those are *really* COVID?”, then; “Well, there may be a COVID spike but the public won’t tolerate further r...
