Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

It's rather alarming that the first thing you think of about gun ownership is shooting people. Indeed, guns are very famously not at all designed for the purpose of and used for shooting people or animals. Just as I don’t think about transportation from point A to point B when thinking about my car...

Re: Another tragic story re gun control in USA

I’ve moved posts over from the COVID thread - weary of thread drift.

I thought there was a longer thread here somewhere, but this is the closest one I could find. Happy for the discussion to continue in here.

Re: Is anybody happy with the Brexit white paper?

Like with everything else Brexit leaders sold to the voters, the U.K./US trade deal was talked up, over-spun, the huge awesome deal that would vindicate Brexit… Right up until the time it failed, and then they quietly admit that the experts who insisted it wouldn’t be a priority for America were rig...

Re: Presidential Election 2020

Claiming asylum... The basic idea is you are forced to flee your own country because it's not safe & need to move to another country. (nothing wrong with that).. However, it doesn't say "Flee your own country, then travel through several others before claiming asylum". This seems to be driving a lo...

Re: The UKAR politics thread

https://twitter.com/torstenbell/status/1439936212819718151?s=21 One of the most frustrating things for me personally, is how much this country gets any leading party to get with it. The Tories will pass this off with some war reference, probably the Blitz or rationing, and this country will absolute...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

It kinda flipped. When Trump was running the show it was the left who weren't trusting "the Trump vaccine" owing to VP Absent Harris & the like talking through their exhaust.. It’s already been proven to you, comprehensively, that this is a lie. That you continue to peddle it despite extremely pers...

Re: 48 Hour Photo Comp: Penne for your thoughts?

Excellent stuff, guys. Really torn on this one (as I’m sure every comp judge is!) Shoutout to Caper’s F-104, Xkekeith’s Chinook, Spiney’s Tornado, & Plison’s Ferrari Starf (which is probably a close second!). But I’m going to have to give it to Derek and his C-47. What an amazing looking machine! Ov...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The issue isn't the vaccine, it's the mandate. The US Govt has a fairly dubious record on this subject, Tuskeegee with cockpox & all sorts of mental health *treatments* etc. Well for one thing, you’ve sort of defeated your own point there. If the vaccine isn’t the issue, then scare stories like coc...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Far from staking any claims to know much about the (apparently inferior) American health system, I’d wager that any nurses refusing to get a vaccine for their own safety is quite a useful metric/litmus test to filter out people who are grossly unsuited to a job that requires empathy, compassion, und...

Re: Is anybody happy with the Brexit white paper?

The main, headline, point ought to be that, just like crowns on pint glasses and the colour of our passports, we could have done all of that whilst we were EU members. It’s the perfect piece of nothingness that Johnson excels at. Completely lacking in any imagination, substance, nor ambition. Almos...

Biden seems to be IMHO, to be unfit for the job and that has nothing to do with Trump.
This isn’t a disagreement, but can I ask upon what basis your honest opinion is formed?

Re: 48 Hour Photo Comp: Penne for your thoughts?

Yeah, I suppose museum pieces, gate guards, planes on sticks etc are all good. 👍🏻

I’ll also take U.K. based stuff in an Italian scheme like that bright Orange SF260 or the gorgeous Super Cub based at Sleap.

The point is, I won’t split hairs for the sake of it 🙂

48 Hour Photo Comp: Penne for your thoughts?

Cheers to PReoch for the nod in the previous thread. I’ve no idea if this is been done or not, but this one’s quite simple: Show my your best images of an aircraft that is (or was at the time of the photo) in Italian service. I’ll apply a broad definition - it can be air force, army, navy, governmen...

Re: The UKAR politics thread

To be fair, even if it was legally binding, it’s not a majority of MPs in any event.

It’s a bit of a performative gesture, there’s not a huge amount Labour can do, but it puts a clear marker down of their position on it, I suppose.

I think that if we *don’t* bring her home and try her for the crimes she has committed, we really are a weak and pathetic and insular country. I cannot see, despite my best efforts, any real moral grounds for the argument that she (or any other criminal, if convicted) ought not to be brought home. A...

*to Vandal’s qu. I couldn’t say. Perhaps, yes. Maybe Raab insisted on it during his discussions with the PM. Even more painful is that Buckland, hardly the brightest star, was about as competent as one could expect from this government (admittedly, a low bar). There appears to be no reason for his s...

Re: The UKAR politics thread

Not for nothing, I don’t imagine anyone was watching, but Starmer in PMQs today managed to get Johnson to make it clear that the Universal Credit uplift has no defence nor justification.

So instead Johnson is chucking in a well-timed cabinet re-shuffle to get everyone talking about something else.
