Re: FRIAT 2024

I’m quite sure it’ll work out - now that they’ve harmonised all FRIAT packages into the full whack, perhaps it’s easier to give everyone the same stuff on presentation of a FRIAT pass (which makes things easier tbh) Though, once again, FRIATers are left with questions about changes that could have b...

Clarence E. “Bud” Anderson - RIP

A storied triple ace of WWII has, apparently, passed away. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7Gc3dBMYKA/?igsh=MTdpa29qMjBvNGc0ZA== I’ve yet to see a full obituary yet, but will update if I find one. He’s been no stranger to the U.K., I recall his visit to Duxford in 2013 for the Eagle Squadron celebratio...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Apologies, didn’t intend to start a discussion; just thought it was relevent to flag a RIAT interview (in response to someone who said they wanted to hear a bit more from Peter), the same way I’d share that interview here if it was done by someone else. That can probably be the end of it, but wanted...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Readers of this month’s Air Forces Monthly will find an interview with him conducted by a completely talentless wannabe aviation journalist.

(Alongside an F-35B interview conducted by the same talentless tool)

Re: Interesting Internet

Not altogether sure about the music choice, but looks like some decent manoeuvres from the Luftwaffe EF2000 solo.

^ good Twitter account from a local who, bizarrely, isn’t sick of Fairford movements (good on them!). I’m v.jealous of their location!

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Portuguese f-16s are very nice, as is the kc-390. Hip is great. Hard to fault this update. But we’re definitely overdue for a flying display update. Of course I understand if the can’t confirm it, it can’t go on the list. But I would have thought some people on here (and everyone on Facebook) would...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Yeh I totally get it bud, and you’ve been rounded on a bit - by the time I posted my message about three other people had got in there too. I’ll add - if the ratio of flying to static updates matters to someone, I’d highly recommend arrivals and/or departures if that’s possible. That way, every upda...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

But I would have thought some people on here (and everyone on Facebook) would’ve thought they would have been a flying update after 4 weeks. …would they? At any event, you can’t think something into existence. If stuff isn’t there to confirm, stuff isn’t there to confirm. Again, it’s the time of ye...

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

Not sure it was, was it? I recall clean and dirty passes at least, but it sort of illustrates my point - quite forgettable compared to the DHL 75/67 display

Edit, yeah, ostensibly a display rather than a flypast, if it can be called that:

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Then those guys can rest safe in the knowledge that their actions might well have, cost RIAT a participant(s). It’s a known problem indeed, which is why the warning exists in the first place. All for, what, 10 minutes of internet clout? 😂

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

The Beluga XL was a classic example of something different on offer that was bestowed with positivity, sadly the Sukhoi Superjet hardly stirred the loins in the same way. It’s also noted how everyone recalls the lovely DHL displays in 2012, but the slightly less well received FlyBe Embraer the year...

Re: Interesting Internet

Always interesting to see the size difference between the Japanese C-2 and the C-1. The latter likely gone inside the next 12/18 months according to some Japanese posters on Twitter.
