Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I’m wary of reading too much into the headline data, but vaccines seem very much to be working.

Re: The UKAR politics thread

Perhaps you’re right, but if it were Johnson (as it often is) I’d be equally critical as I often am. End of the day, blue, red, orange - it’s all performative bolycs. And I hate it. It’s cringe, stupid, crass, and who but those there are actually sat at home like YES LADS YOU HIT THAT WALL WITH A SM...

Christ look at the cringe of this. Performative cretinous knobs.

There is such a thing as winning with class and dignity and being magnanimous. This is like play school. Fisher Price hammer and everything.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I’m not sure it’s definitive. Re Cheltenham and the footie match. I don’t think it’s ever been proven; but if it has, the clinch-points are that there was barely any testing back then so we can’t know for sure, that none of the current measures (masks, general social distancing and the like) weren’t...

Big difference between By elections & General elections
Very much so, but it’s equally wrong to write off a by-election as just some mid-term protest vote (it might well be) and nothing more.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Does anyone know a definitive “vaccine hesitancy” rate? I’ve seen a number of figures, but the U.K. is one of the best in the world at vaccine compliance, isn’t it?

Re: The UKAR politics thread

Well, I think, that’s clearly not the case, and the evidence for that is last night’s result.

Even if the Lib Dems hoovered up every single Labour vote, that still wouldn’t have put them anywhere close to unseating the Tories. This is a 25% swing. That’s massive.

So I think you’re wrong on that.

Re: The UKAR politics thread

Does also highlight how badly Labour are doing and no-one wants to vote for them either! I think a lot of it is tactical voting. Labour have never had a hope at that seat & voters who wanted to see the back of the Tories were more likely to sling their vote to the party more likely to win. Arguably...

Re: The UKAR politics thread

It’s being ignored by the Tories at the moment, but taking this, and the local council elections, there’s a trickle turning into a stream appearing in voting intentions across the more traditional blue areas in the country: https://twitter.com/electionmapsuk/status/1405699154882580482?s=21 The Torie...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

To be fair, I could be very wrong, but I’m not aware of a single outdoor event or mass gathering that has fuelled a COVID spike since February 2020. Ventilation is absolutely key. Think about all the protests, all the VE Day celebrations, those front pages of Brits packing to the beaches, everyone s...

There are a lot of standouts in the thread, Dan & Nick’s E-4, Shaun’s Ospreys, Caper’s Tupolev, Mark’s VC-137, and many others. But something about Niall’s shot does it for me. Probably jealousy. Definitely jealousy. A type I would love to have seen. The white and red look so good on those 747s. Jap...

Though I thought Bale was (ok, granted, two absolutely sublime setups) a bit sub-par. That penalty miss was a bit betty swollocks.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I mean, look, Johnson can disagree with Starmer, but this is absolute nothing but pure douchebaggery, and, as much as anything else - wrong. One suspects that it’s because Johnson doesn’t have any defence or justification. He just cocked up. He knows it. We know it. Everyone knows it. But still they...

https://twitter.com/bydonkeys/status/1404822229939113989?s=21 It really is quite indefensible how Johnson and his Government squandered the huge sacrifices we all made throughout lockdown, and the immense success of the NHS rolling out the vaccines. All down to a trade trip and not wanting to annoy ...

From 11th February. https://twitter.com/keir_starmer/status/1359928244162744325?s=21 “Captain hindsight” indeed. I don’t want to make it too political, I don’t know whether Starmer would have done a better job (I doubt Corbyn would have, and that’s so far the only choice the electorate has had), *bu...

Chris has pretty much covered it, but I use IG on the smartphone. As with anything new, it feels a bit gross and weird at first, but if you stick with it, it does all feel like it falls into place. The aviation community on IG is, I find, a really decent place. It seems to have a lot less of the bit...

I’ve had a look at Draken’s list (excellent work keeping that up to date, T!) and I don’t think I’ve seen this one, but there will probably be a point where we start repeating ourselves a bit, so apologies if this is the case. Anyway - because it felt like half the country (myself included) was in s...

Personally a delay will have zero effect on me, I am almost back to normal anyway. Further restrictions will result in a public backlash from younger people in particular, there is just no apertite for it. Just look at how many flights are running to amber countries still, people want to travel aga...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

How many of you would prefer to be sitting here right now with a two week firebreak behind us, and 21st June kept in play. Rather than facing a month-long suspension of 21 June, as we are facing now. personally id rather have a month delay at current restriction levels, rather than a 2 week firebre...
