Zoom in the age of Lockdown

My photo society are in the process of arranging their programme for the next 12 months. At least once a month we will be (hopefully) arranging presentations via Zoom on particular subjects by people who have an interesting story (and interesting photographs) to tell If you (or anyone you know) migh...

Mach Loop B&B for sale

Hi all I don't get out much these days, so haven't been posting regularly, but a good friend of mine has a business for sale which just might interest one or two of you here. If you've ever thought "I'd love to get away from it all run a little B&B somewhere out of the way", then now's...

Re: Skylive Airshow

Fortunate enough to be close enough to see most of the 'air display' from outside the airport. No Lancaster, No Falcons, one Red went tech after takeoff, so only 8 ship 'rolling display'. Typhoon probably the highlight, and the helicopter 'pleasure flights consisted of a flown circuit in under 10 mi...

I don't want to attract unwarranted criticism, but have you considered the 100-400L? There's a reason you see loads of 'togs with that lens on their cameras at airshows y'know You can get a second hand one for around £750 if you look hard enough! ETA I'm a *heavy* user of this lens, and it's very ra...

I tried to download the file, but although it appeared to D/L correctly, it stops playing with an error in both Media PLayer and VLC at around 4:38.....

Amazing stuff though - I love the motion effects - are they all done purely in Photoshop?

I'll d/l it again 'cos I want to see it all!

Re: Airshow Photography Course

I have to say up front that I like Andy Rouse as a person, since I've met him a couple of times. There's absolutely no doubt that he's a cracking wildlife photographer, but even he admits to being in awe of some of the aviation shots that are posted here and elsewhere. For that reason I too did a do...

Re: Circuit of Britain flight - Catalina G-PBYA 21-25 Aug 20

I'm hoping to get up to Scarborough or Whitby on Wednesday, weather permitting. Anyone got any idea of where the 'display' at Scarborough is likely to be best viewed from? The Castle? (shooting into sun, perhaps) or the other end, near the Esplanade Hotel?

Re: Cokin Filter System

I use these Cokin 'P' series filters all the time and I always assumed they were acrylic since I've dropped more than one of them onto the tarmac and they didn't chip or crack (but that might just be my good fortune). I love 'em! If you find someone with an 8-stop non graduated neutral density filte...

Cracking set of images, but my choice must be the first shot of the Boeing - wish I'd been there for that.....I'm now hoping they pull out all the stops for the 50th anniversary show, since it's the only one I'm likely to make this year

LMA Display Elvington - 10th August

Spent a pleasant few hours in good company yesterday at Elvington, shooting scale models rather than the real thing for a change. Some of these models were just a delight to watch! Here's a quick baker's dozen..... 1 http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3822/9482690605_472df05ee3_c.jpg 2 http://farm4.stati...

I (and many like me, I suspect) whilst feeling a little sad that she's now more of a replica than a restoration, couldn't really care less as long as she makes it back into the air again! Despite having visited Old Warden on many occasions since the 1970's, I've never managed to see her in the sky -...

Pity I missed the Spartan flying, 'cos I love that plane - I won 1st prize in my local camera club competition 'Reflections' with this shot of her.... http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5499/9159447258_95c8fcf966_c.jpg Also hoping that the Imperial Airways model makes it up to Elvington for their 'Giant ...

Re: RIAT Arrivals... LIVE! 2013

Yes - a good idea for a thread but, as BigRedDog has suggested, you could educate so many more of us on here if you captioned your photos. To people who don't recognise every plane on the planet, uploading an untitled photo is next to a waste of time. Jeez - give Andy a break - If you spent ten sec...

'Reds' Notams

Anyone here know where I can find details of the Red's flight routes to/from displays? I know they're published somewhere online, I just can't seem to find the right page at the moment.

Thanks in advance

This year, unfortunately - I shall be enjoying RIAT courtesy of the photos posted here....... If circumstances change I might risk coming down for the arrivals at the P&V wed-fri and just slum it in the back of the van at fly-by camping for a couple of nights, but I have to be in Dumfries & ...

Perhaps this image might help to show what a slow shutter speed image from Old Warden should look like? I was unable to examine the OP's EXIF data, but at a guess the 1/15th quoted was probably not at an ISO in excess of 800, and depending upon the camera being used, he could probably have changed e...

I have an AC inverter which plugs into the cig lighter socket and provides a single 13A socket. Normally sufficient to recharge batteries, and keep the laptop running in order to download the day's pics from the cards onto the hard drive.

Arrivals 2013

Are there two designated 'Park and View' areas for Waddington Arrivals on the Thursday & Friday, i.e. one for each end of the runway? If so, what's the anticipated cost? I've not been to Waddington before, but it's 'commutable' for me from East Yorks, so I'll probably do both arrivals days and o...

Re: Canon Camera's

That is total use to me! Well, I'll pop back nearer the time maybe then I'll be able to afford the 7D? If you're looking for something around the price of a 50D now, then you'll almost certainly get a decent used 7D next year for the same price, since the 7D MkII is due towards the end of the year ...
