Re: Season Premiere - King & Country Air Show (Sunday 7 May 2023)
I suspect there won't be any clarity about how the entry to the site is to be managed, it will just be turn up and hope. With the recent management changes and the reversing of a number of very unpopular decisions re access on non airshow days, perhaps a more visitor friendly approach may be taken. ...

Does anyone know what the car parking arrangements are going to be for airshows this year?

Re: Something small at Old Warden
Had a look at your albums. Beautiful pictures! If you don't mind telling, what kind of equipment are you using? Body/lenses. Good work. Thanks, I've had to reduce the weight of the kit I'm using. Most from this year are using a Fuji X-T3 with a Fuji 100-400mm lens. Previously I used a Nikon D500 an...

I haven't posted for a long time but I thought this was a bit different. Colomban Cri-Cri flying into Old Warden before the July Evening airshow.

A number of shops have a £450 trade in bonus available until 31st January, if you have a suitable old camera available. I don't think Jessops offer this.

Re: IMPORTANT - Future of UKAR
Firstly thanks to staff and Paul for giving such a clear description of the current position. Secondly, during the period of server migration (in my limited experience a potentially fraught undertaking) could I encourage staff who are not involved with the technical aspects, to thoroughly investigat...

Re: IMPORTANT - Future of UKAR
Firstly I'd like to wish all the volunteer staff well in their efforts to maintain UKAR. Presuming there is access to analytical tools I suggest a detailed look at the traffic on the site and before deleting too much in the way of content/accounts, consider that the greater the traffic the greater t...

Re: Any Panasonic users got the G9
Had mine for about three days because the price is so good Bit too early to judge but I was shooting the Red Arrows yesterday evening quite successfully and it feels really great. Any more thoughts about this camera? I had a quick play in a shop with the G9 and the 100-400mm lens. The weight was a ...

Re: Lens recommendation
There are so many considerations regarding lens choice, and a lot comes down to personal preference. In this case perhaps it would be useful to look through the airshow photos you are really happy with and what focus length they were shot at. Also would you be happy with a fixed focal length rather ...

Re: Uniformity NEW EDIT ADDED
It looks on my phone as though there’s now a halo around the Lanc, the area immediately outside of the edges of it are brighter than the rest of the sky. Thanks for the comment - I agree it is more obvious on some screens than others. I've gone back and had a final attempt. [url] http://cdn.ipernit...

Re: Uniformity
I've removed the blue cast as suggested and think think the image looks a lot better. I did have to use masks and use different white balances in different parts of the photo, so with my processing skills (or lack of) it's not something I would consider doing often. Any comments would be welcome. [u...

Re: Uniformity
A manual white balance, a good colour profile and a consistent exposure, which is easier said than done. I'd say that Lancaster B could benefit from a better white balance. There is a very strong blue colour cast in the deepest black , an RGB value of 20, 40, 65, make them equal and the picture isn...

Re: Uniformity
Personally, I take each image as a single entity rather than part of a sequence and edit accordingly - so long as the aircraft's colours look accurate , I don't care how the sky looks. This is exactly it for me, especially the bit I have emboldened. I normally treat images this way (although colour...

I was looking for opinions - so far it seems that treating each image as an entity is the way to go.

Re: Uniformity
I can understand your reasoning behind wanting a uniformity to the sky in your images, however, I can't help but think it might be an exercise in futility where you spend hours of your life in photoshop for very little reward... Personally, I take each image as a single entity rather than part of a...

Because I want images of different aspects of the aircraft, which I can only get from different places in the sky.

Uniformity FINAL EDIT ADDED
When you take a number of shots of the same aircraft at an airshow do you try to make the sky uniform in post processing or do you treat each image as an individual shot? If you try for a uniform sky how do you do it? The examples here are of the Lancaster at the first Old Warden show this year. I k...
