Re: The UKAR politics thread

........ I have no educational attainment past high school myself, and therefore its true to say any work I do must, by definition, by 'unskilled'..... Are you saying that only those who have been through "higher education" can be classed as "skilled workers"? If that is so then I have for nearly f...

Re: The UKAR politics thread

(the £10 eat in voucher seems to be pure gimmicks ) Actually it seems to be a reasonable idea, rather than just handing out 'stimulus checks' like the US does. It will certainly tempt me to go out and spend money on dining out in August, much more that I would have done otherwise. Just a shame that...

Re: Football

If Leicester goes in to local lockdown, surely any team who have plaid them since the restart would also need to lock down meaning football will need to stop again. Should just end it now and do points per game ending. Don't think they can do that now. Leicester are only 6 points in front of Man U ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Apparently the wife still has to self isolate until August so the new lockdown rules won't apply to the Mooshie household.

Edit, which is interesting as someone can come within 1 m of me but I have to be 2m from them, how does that work?.

You never had to tie your shoelaces? I was going to say no as I wear slip on's  But seriously after thinking about it, I won't say never but I tend to find a wall or chair to bring my foot up to tie shoe laces, especially nowadays as the bones are starting to creak a bit. Serious question tho...

Another point I would like to make is this bend the knee or whatever they call it, because I refuse to do such action I'm classed as a racist. But due to my upbringing and *cultural heritage* I would only ever do that for 2 people, my intended and the Queen/King of England.

So it's offensive now to say white lives matter. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/53132137 In a statement, Burnley said that the banner "in no way represents" what the club stands for and that they will "work fully with the authorities to identify those responsible and take appropriate acti...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The biggest balls up for me was the decision not to lock down sooner. Because the consequences of that cannot be reversed with a catch up programme over the summer, or an injection of funds from somewhere. I think that's the main failure. Had they locked down sooner I would hazard at a guess that a...

Yes I'm sure! All were 7 at Manchester, G-VGAL left last week, G-VLIP left on Monday and G-VROY should leave tomorrow at around noon.
Thank you. It saves me a trip tomorrow as I only want to catch the last to leave.

There's still 5 Virgin 747s parked at Manchester, not just 1.
Are you sure ?. I was told this is the last one to go, admittedly it's not 100% reliable, my main source is furloughed so not at work atm.

Manchester Airport

I hear that the last Virgin 747 parked up at Manchester is due to leave tomorrow 18th at 12 noon. I take it that's the last time a Virgin 747 will grace Manchester Airport. Edited to change the date. someone said tomorrow at 11.45 last night, so I put the 17th, but it looks like t's the 18th. I miss...

No different to when they pulled the Black and White minstrel show years ago. Little Britain should never have been allowed to do it.

Selling licence rights to pictures

I've had a someone asking to use one of my photos, and want to pay me for it under licence or give me the final item it will be used for. So what does this all mean, I honestly didn't expect this to happen to me.

Re: Dates on war memorials?

I suppose it's something similar to the Korean war that has never had a peace agreement signed. We acknowledge that war ended in 1953.
Also why WW2 in Europe ended with an unconditional surrender to end it on that date.

Re: Dates on war memorials?

1919 Was when the armistice was signed iirc. Ahh found it Germany had formally surrendered on November 11, 1918, and all nations had agreed to stop fighting while the terms of peace were negotiated. On June 28, 1919, Germany and the Allied Nations (including Britain, France, Italy and Russia) signed...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I look at the death rate that we all keep referring to and yes it is way to high, but I got thinking today about how small the UK is compared to France Germany etc. So I did a population check and I see we are the 3rd highest population in Europe, yet we come in at 11th by area. I do wonder if this ...

Re: Football

So Liverpool will finally get the title that they deserve this year, but why do I feel it will be a hollow victory for them.
PS I would also feel the same if it was my team that won in this way. It just doesn't feel right.
