Re: Christchurch Airport Military Movements, 29 March 2024

Somehow missed these before now! Nice to see shots from a location I'd like to visit, but probably never will.

Looks like a fairly small affair for modern Mil' but really good quality! Skier 130J is a treat. USAF F-16 is a great catch too. thanks for sharing with us.

Well done with these! I'm liking the general views of the 'loose crop' & special congrat's on posting the 4-ship F-4 flypast. First I've seen, was beginning to think they didn't happen this year? I assume you were on a grandstand for the elevated views of the taxiway & runway? That a...

As you probably know, a mirage is a naturally-occurring optical phenomenon in which light rays bend via refraction to produce a displaced image of distant objects. In this case, it will be Couteau Delta still in Nancy-Ochey, Fr.! 'A knife' you say Caper, as in the the c/s of the CV-22B Osprey...

So many great shots from both of you. The static was amazing with so many specials & rarities. :sunglasses: It appears the flying display was a few notches higher than the standard US. format. That "Blacksnakes" A-10 Demo' has to be a get it while you can? Biggest concern for me is the...

Strange to think how relaxed we once were with the Russians? I never made it to a MAKS show and at the rate they're losing aircraft & helicopters, even if it ever became possible again there wouldn't be that much to see now anyway! :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Good to see that you're narrowing the goalposts. Lighning Fan makes a good point about the crop-factor bodies regarding the 24mm min' focal length. You've already stated an interest in Land & Cityscapes, so my previous mention of the 24-105 lens was on the assumption that you would be buying a f...

Thanks for that Seamus. Direction of low-level jets suggested the road location, but I've never been there! I'd heard a rumour of delays getting on base due to the HAF wanting to see 'proof of payment for the event' ? I can understand your 'frustration' especially if the Mirages only flew the...

For me the BHHH episode has been the most 'off target' show so far! Nowhere near enough focus on the subject aircraft & too mush b&w footage of Battle of Britain archive film.
By all means tell me about the work ethic, but for Chris' sakes show me more of it being done!

Kristin 'Beo' Wolfe flying the borrowed Lakenheath F-35 at Kleine Brogel in 2023 was absolutely amazing. That jet was maxed-out in all directions!

It's just possible my 'novelty' is case-hardened to resist wear?

Your low-level shots are excellent, were they shot from the road location, or the canyon outcrop? Base shots are equally good with very little evidence of heat haze being a factor at this event! Must agree with Caper, the Romanians are special but the Qatari's edge it for me too. May I ask if...

As there seems to be nobody stepping forward, I'll make a start. Your budget dictates you're firmly in the 'used' equipment category. You can re-equip with a high-quality combination to suit your outlined needs. Optics should prevail over the camera body. The best camera body in the World won't give...

There is a precedent for this, as they named the F-16 ‘Jastrząb’ (Goshawk) and M.346 ‘Bielik’ (white-tailed eagle) in Polish service. I wonder what the Polish is for ‘slug’? Continuing the trend of avian related names & with a nod to the social media generation, I give you the 'popular' Lakenhe...

As we approach 6 weeks until the 2024 edition, I can't seem to find a current 'Flying List' for the show? I need to see some serious additional content added before committing to travel for this show.
The listing most easily found is way too lightweight to be attractive to me! :disappointed:
