Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

Or preferably they could bring something altogether better like [...] T-41 [...] Agreed, the Kaan is incredibly ugly and really just looks like a bad F-22 ripoff, I'd prefer the named aircraft in this list over the Kaan anyday! Never thought I'd see the day that a Cessna 172 would appear on the wis...

Re: Airpower24 - Zeltweg, Austria

So what's different between these "for photographer" ones and normal spotters packages? From my previous 3 experiences at AIRPOWER (all with Spotters Pass) it’s very noticeable that there’s not huge numbers present on Wednesday/Thursday but once the show days come, the Spotters Tent is ra...

Re: Airpower24 - Zeltweg, Austria

Such a shame that one of the best shows in Europe for enthusiasts, presents such a headache for said enthusiasts to purchase a ticket! Absolutely bonkers method of operation. That said, I can't wait to be back on the hallowed ground, drinking Red Bull and photographing jets with that stunning backdr...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

I do wonder if Cosford's size and location is part of the issue with non participation across the board. A highly restricted display area, short runway, limited static parking, combined with the high insurance to top it off. Shame really I’ve tired to avoid commenting on this thread, but given a co...

One thing, I though the Knights flew Su-30s now??
Was a six-ship of Su-35S Flanker E jets at Dubai! A bit of googling suggests these newer single seaters replaced the Su-30SM twin sticks in 2020.

As the year draws to a close, can I say a massive THANK-YOU to DCW and all the thread contributors for this excellent thread. Always good quality images to enjoy and useful to keep a track of the movements and serviceability of the UK warbird scene. For example, learning PL983 has had D-Day stripes ...

23 shots from 2023!

As we start to look back on the year, I realised I've not post many shots on UKAR from my adventures, so thought it proper to share some for you to review. First time I pointed a camera an an aircraft was in late February, when I travelled to the Maldives for my Honeymoon. The highlight of th...

Re: Interesting Internet

It seems that the AAC Apache demo will be back for 2024, if you download the JHC 2024 display form you can book a flying Apache for your event. I'm sorry but you're reading into something that's not there. The Apache flying display has been on the JHC displays application every year (including this...

Re: Batajnica Open Day, Serbia

Surprised and disappointed that this only generated two comments, given the almost mythical status the J-22 Orao used to hold on this forum in the airshow wishlist threads. Knew the images weren't world class but didn't think they were that bad! It would be great to hear more about the trip and why ...

Batajnica Open Day, Serbia

Last month I travelled to Serbia, to attend their annual Open Day / Armed Forces Parade held at Batajnica Air Base (near Belgrade). For a myriad of reasons, it was quite the experience (and not a great one), but nevertheless pleasing to accomplish to goal of photographing a J-22 Orao! A select of im...

Worth pointing out that this policy, requiring civilian aircraft performing flying displays over MOD property to hold £50 million of aviation liability insurance, came into force in February 2019 and is not something new for this year.

Would be good to know what’s happening to the Griffins, if anything. They're contractor owned, like the Shawbury machines were, so will be sold on to new operators. It's a shame, as the Griffin (HT1 & HAR2) fleet served the UK well and one of them deserved a place in the RAF Museum in my eyes.

In terms of an aviation spectacle, the 'Vibes in the Sky' segment of AIRPOWER22, with nine Alouettes flying together, was my highlight of the year from a spectators point of view, and a fantastic photographic oppurtunity to bid farewell to this charismatic helicopter. https://live.staticflickr.com/6...

the Polish, Turkish, Greek and Netherlands F-16's are the D model. Considering the Dutch don’t have F-16D (and coincidently have retired all their F-16BM) I think it’ll be a mix of single and twin sticks from the various nations sending Vipers to the show. Let’s be honest, the website list isn’t th...
