Lovely and an appearance by 90-0248, one of Lakenheaths originals from when the type replaced the F-111F.

Re: USAF F-16 Solo Display Pilot Removed

1000 hours on type -- how does that compare with the team leader of RAFAT? 1000 hours in military aircraft, not the same as 1000 hours on type. Reading both bio's and the original release, it would seem that Kotnik is not ready for her own command, its happened before and it will happen again. So w...

Re: NATO Tiger Meet 2019 Mont-de-Marsan

I've written to them twice regarding registration and the requirement for vehicle/insurance details and that a large number of folks will be utilising rental vehicles so unable to provide the data. To date, no response to date.

Will update if I hear anything.

They were a nightmare for interchangeability when we had the first batch at Scampton. Could even swap over some panels due to holes being in different places... Just pull off the road and onto the sand, 'dunes' is a bit misleading, sorry. The ground is fine to drive a vehicle onto just try to gauge where you are in relation to 03L.

Re: Spotting at Yuma

Was out there in late February this year and had no problems whatsoever - I always put the road between myself and the fence. The 'threes' (03L & 03R) were in use (as they have been on my last three visits) so we were at the north of the field for departures where we used the two spots on the Go...

One other thing to point out yet again is that the CAA is required by Government to make a profit and return a percentage of that profit to the Government. I think the phrase I heard used was along the lines of "the CAA are mandated by government to recover costs" something which, by thei...

Re: Help with airshow dates?

The 1971 Abingdon show report on Scramble appears to account for most of what you have pictures of apart from Spitfire G-AIDN which appears in the 1972 report. That period would however tie in roughly as I recall seeing 'AIDN in the yellow scheme at Yeovilton in 1975.

Good luck.

Why is there this assumption that just because there's a new special schemed aircraft, it MUST be seen publicly? Paid for out of the public purse, why else would they choose to apply markings to an aircraft? If not wishing for it be seen publicly then don't bother and just celebrate the occasion qu...

Good to see some shots from there again, thank you; I was last there in 2004 and would dearly love to revisit. Shame the outside aircraft aren't able to looked after to the same level as those inside and hopefully that will change in the near future. Your Me-262s are actually Czech built Avia S-92 (...

Was announced by a Falklands MLA on Twitter yesterday that XZ593/I has been gifted to the Falkland Islands Museum. Apparently plans are afoot to give it a roof over its head to secure its future. Ironical that they had an Argentine Pucara and Huey, but both got scrapped as they had nowhere to keep ...

A potential big hint about the future of Waddington as an airshow was delivered today at Church Fenton. Next year's Grand Yorkshire Airshow is 6th-7th July and features USAF participation in the form of a B-1B. Seemed to be rumours on the ground today that the joint working with the US at Waddingto...
