Fitting Farewell - Radom 23

Merry Christmas everyone, this summer I opted to head to Poland for Radom, knowing it was the last opportunity to see the migs and fitter's I had high hopes to see capture some images of these iconic soviet designed aircraft. The weather forecast looked awful going into the event but for the most pa...

Gateway to the Gulf - BIAS 22

Seasons Greeting everyone, It's been a while since I've posted on the forums, a certain pandemic preventing travel and changes in my personal life kept me away from international travel. I had the Bahrain show on my radar from previous years, while a small event it does offer some really nice items ...

Wake Island Avengers

Hi All, Hope everyone is keeping safe and well. I thought I would catch up with a few threads from a good few weeks of deployments in the East Anglia region. Starting with the USMC F-35's at Marham with a small selection. 1. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50346114497_efedfa58ee_h.jpg USMC F-35B...

Go For It!! Hyakuri!

Season's Greetings All, I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Christmas. For those looking for a short break from the festivities I present some exotic phantoms from the land of the rising sun in their twilight moments. The lure of shark mouthed Reece phantoms and a 301 special tearing up the skies o...

Eat Sleep RIAT Repeat

Hi All, So another RIAT has come to past, here’s my record from a consierbaly more damp and cloudy event to last year. I did feel the show was a little on the light side on any other day than the Saturday so will be interesting to see how that plays out in subsequent years. The MiG, Harriers and Fla...

Re: Welcome to the Jungle - LIMA19

Thanks for the awesome feedback everyone To answer a couple of questions Fantasctic set, some truly amazing shots there! What kind of focal length do you need for the close ups, like the Flanker in number nine? For that particular shot, not much as the flanker camera from behind and pulled up hard i...

Welcome to the Jungle - LIMA19

Hi All, The flanker once again luring me to far away places, this time Malaysia focusing on the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition - LIMA for short. My main hope was to see exotic jets against an exotic backdrop, probably quality over quantity. What unfolded that week surpassed...

Samurai Spirit (The Last) of Hyakuri

Merry Christmas everyone and I wish you all a Happy New Year. Thanks to everyone who I met this year its definitely been a memorable one. My last trip out was one which many a spotter had chosen, time with the Phantoms of Hyakuri and its airshow. I was fortunate to attend the Saturday of the show wi...

Hi All, A collection of some of the mil bits and pieces from the last couple of months. Its been a pretty good year for movements in the UK and this lot is without the Coningsby deployment! 1. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1926/44588884504_2bae1d1195_h.jpg Defender of British Skies by Jonathan Hayl...

A Look back at RIAT

Hi All, Hopefully room for another RIAT collection from what was a brilliant few days in Fairford. This was the best weather I've experience at a RIAT with plenty of sun and great photo opportunities. We had some friends of the family attend for their first time and I tried to get across that its no...

KADEX 2018

Hi All, As a Flanker fan I thought I would take a chance on Kadex this year. It was definitely an interesting experience from seeing all of the exhibits, combat demo and exploring Astana which appears to be developing at a rapid rate. The single Flanker display on the last day is probably as low and...

All American Flag

Hi all, Back in March I attended Red Flag for the first time and as it approached the visiting nations all dropped out and the home team turned up in force (while also coinciding with Green Flag). If I learned anything from Nellis it is the there's no guarantees photography wise, with two runways an...

Modern Mil Catch Up Q4-17

Hi All, I thought I would gather together some of the Modern Mil jets items I've captured over the past three months or so. Its the time of the year where the nights drawn in and sunset/ night shots become all the more possible. In here are shots from the COAP night shoot at Coningsby which I rememb...

Re: Norfolk's Airshows Warbird offering

When was Seething? I'm about five miles from the airfield and didn't see or read any publicity for this show at all. Hadn't it used to be a September event? Seething was on Sunday 20 August, it looks like over the years its crept into August more and more perhaps to work around other events? the la...

Norfolk's Airshows Warbird offering

Hi All, A small selection of the (mostly) warbird variety from the Norfolk airshows of Old Buckenham and Seething. As with the rest of the summer the weather was more than a little challenging at times but did offer some interesting backdrops. The two shows were quite the contrast with Old Buckenham...

The Star-Spangled RIAT

Hi All, So RIAT has once again come and gone, after months of hype it feels like it would be an impossible task to live up to expectations but RIAT 2017 was by far the best one I have attended so far, granted I have only been going in recent years. The show was supported very well other than by the ...

3 Days 3 Countries - Plenty of Special Schemes

Hi All, So that's not 3 days consecutive but two of them were, Nato Tiger Meet in France, Tactical Weapons Meet in Belgium and a Base visit to Marham. It's been a great few weeks with Belgium being probably the best single day I've had in this hobby, 1 squadron should be applauded for their efforts....

Hi All, Like a few others I was there to witness the final three Reece Phantoms of the Hellenic Air Force be put to rest. While the spotters day didn't play out as the squadron had hoped I think its fair to say a good time was had with plenty of opportunity to catch the jets in their final hour. A c...

Thunder and Lightning over East Anglia

Hi all, Just before the next season of events and shows over the summer kicks in I though I would put together a collection of shots from the rest of winter into spring. Events concluding with a visit to Lakenheath with a mass launch of F-35's with F-15 C's, E's and Norwegian F-16. Between Lakenheat...

Canon 100-400 MK II Lens Foot Warning

Hi All, With this being a very popular lens in the hobby I thought it worth reporting an issue with the lens foot. I noticed on my copy the lens foot was starting to feel pretty wobbly recently. The foot itself has a thumb screw and I thought this was causing the issue. Despite screwing it as tightl...
