What an amazing transformation you guys have achieved. And to see three Buccaneers together again is amazing.

What with the epic restoration to the Meteor and now the Bucc, you hardy volunteers are certainly doing YAM proud.!

Duxford Sunday 5th February: The magnificent (Sea) Fury G-CBEL / SR661, which featured in last night's photoshoot, remained outside Airspace in the sun today: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52671314510_988bb5a55e_h.jpg Magnificent indeed. I always think that in that RN colour scheme it is just...

Re: B-17G Texas Raider crash Dallas

Yet another multi fatality accident involving piston engine warbirds and their pilots! What are you getting at here? That they shouldn't fly them anymore? Well put it this way, going by the events of the last few years you won’t need to stop them flying - as there will be virtually nothing left too...

I think any late piston / early jet combo is very evocative. And I have to say that the Extra 300 pyros were quite spectacu...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2022 - 10th & 11th September

The point, really, is that you are wrong - about aircraft content. I have very quickly cobbled together a list of aircraft from the last half-dozen editions of Flying Legends that have never been seen at any other Duxford show. In no particular order, badly formatted and likely containing errors, b...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2022 - 10th & 11th September

I guess you just never “got it” about what Legends was all about then. I suppose either you do, or just don’t. Put it another way. Friends used to come from all over the world for Legends. It was always about far more than just a bunch of Duxford-based aeroplanes flying up and down for an afternoon...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2022 - 10th & 11th September

Regardless of what else turned up the bulk of Legends was always made up of Duxfords resident aircraft, just as is advertised above.

As I said it’s a Flying Legends lineup but without the title!!

Ah that explains the markings on the (MiG). They came over this way today and from a distance I couldn’t quite work them out. But seeing them both flying especially the Vampire made my day!

Some lovely close up photos there.

Apart from Bull Finches we get pretty much all of the garden birds visit the garden at different times, although there has been a noticeable decline of Chaffinches coming and I haven’t seen a Coal Tit for months!

Re: NavyWings - News and Updates

I remember seeing her fly at a Duxford airshow many years ago. Would be a welcome addition to the scene after so many jets leaving. I’ll second that. After losing both the Sea Vixen and Sea Fury from the airshow scene, getting the Sea Hawk flying again really is the best way forward for Navy Wings ...

Many thanks for that Arno, that helps enormously. I have an engine panel from ‘484 which still shows the ‘Spade’ emblem from its time with 771 NAS, plus traces of the different paint colours used during its career. But my real confusion was the fact that the top coat is a hand painted dark green (po...
