Re: NavyWings - News and Updates
I remember when there were quite a few Sea Vixen’s on the move following MOD disposal. There were several that ended up at Cornwall Aero Park for example. I saw one “on the road” also. The wing fold meant that it could be moved in one piece back then using a low loader. I understand that XP924 is cu...

Re: Disband BBMF?
Then there are those that have tried to include a bit of everything - the RNHF with Swordfish, Sea Hawk and Sea Vixen for example (but when did the Sea Hawk last fly? 2010 or something I think). Is it worth mentioning that the Sea Vixen was restored and brought back to flight capability by private ...

Picked this up from “Doncaster Free Press” dated 2nd May. Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight
Dare we hope that in some shape or form Doncaster just might be resurrected as an airport if/when the economy recovers? I've spent over 10 years working on infrastructure projects at various UK international airports, and I think there's zero chance of DSA getting resurrected as a viable airport. C...

Re: The Antonov AN-225 is Coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator
It clearly is a simplified addon given that it allows one sim pilot to complete the functions of a six person crew. I still think it’s an impressive model though and it’s terrific in VR. Not without its challenges either with a 50 page manual to absorb and all of the instruments in Russian. It seems...

Re: The Antonov AN-225 is Coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator
There are reportedly in excess of 10 million users globally of MSFS on both Xbox and PC. If this add-on proves popular then it could make a real contribution to the restoration effort. I am going to purchase it and I am looking forward to exploring it and flying in VR. There is currently a freeware ...

Re: The Antonov AN-225 is Coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator
Check out the video, there is plenty of “detail”by any standards. There must have been many 1000’s of hours involved in the development. The ability to deploy a crew of 6 is a limitation imposed by the sim. Even this may change in the future.

The Antonov AN-225 is Coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator
A number of sites are reporting that a detailed model of the lost Antonov is coming to MSFS. Developed by an independent developer, the cost will be $20 with proceeds to go to the restoration project. The video from Microsoft looks excellent and release date slated for end of this month. https://you...

Re: The best airshow line up of all time?
Binbrook 1987-the last Lightning show. Mostly Lightnings, plenty of rain and I wasn’t even there!
Before my time but any air show with Simon’s Circus or Fred’s Five Sea Vixen display teams. Plus the 1958 Farnborough show with the legendary 22 Hunter display including a formation loop.

5 Jets over Hinckley
Spotted whilst at Asda a 10.45. Loose high level formation of 5 fast movers. Clear sky with impressive vapour trails heading approximately south-west. Difficult to see detailed shape but could have been single engined based on the trails. One of the five was somewhat behind the other four which were...

Re: NavyWings - News and Updates
I understood that Gwyn Jones and Marcus Edwards did a lot of work to prepare for the ferry flight in advance. The flight was conducted by a test pilot from Llanbedr. The article gives a potted history:
