Re: 48hr Photo Comp - RAF Harrier

Unfortunately I was just a little bit late to spot the UK Harrier fleet whilst in active service, so museum pieces will have to suffice. Very much pushing the boundaries of the rules, but this has to be one of the most famous Harriers to take part during Afghanistan. ZD433, nicknamed 'Dirty Harry', ...

Scottish Military - Ledhead's Forays around the Central Belt

Me again! The past couple of weeks have allowed me to be out and about with the camera, which hasn't been a bad thing considering how busy it's been with military movements. This week has also seen the start of Exercise Joint Warrior. With no land-based fighter element, the Hawk T.1s being based in ...

Lovely photos Tom, can't fault them! You must have made some good sacrifices to the weather gods! Can't help but feel a little bit sad scrolling through these though, very much the end of an era in commercial aviation!

Absolutely love the stub wings on the Lysander, really looks the part and have to say I never knew that was a mod they had fitted.

USMC Return to Edinburgh

After talking to a couple of other spotters on the mound at Ingliston, USMC Hercules used to be relatively frequent visitors in years gone by to Edinburgh. However it's been quite some time since they've last been here, so it was certainly a turn up for the books to see this classic KC-130T Hercules...

Prestwick Exotica

A couple more recent visits to Prestwick over the past month or so have yielded some exceptionally good movements. Last weekend saw four Afghan Air Force A-29B Super Tucanos stage through Prestwick for a quick fuel stop before heading onwards to somewhere altogether more hot and sandy. Quite a decen...

A-ton-ov Variety at Prestwick

Made my first trip to Prestwick Airport yesterday after a reasonable number of aircraft were scheduled to make an appearance. Thankfully I wasn't disappointed, with a fair few people turning up to see the arrival of the Volga-Dnepr An-124. Even the weather managed to relatively cooperate as well! 1)...

Spartan Executive over Edinburgh

Just had a Spartan 7W Executive (N17616) rumble over Edinburgh at about 10,000ft. Doesn't appear to be one of the UK-based examples and it appears to have been recently sold. Any know where it's off to, bit of a beggar to spot but looks like it was heading south.

Phil had one on a Northolt night shoot some years ago - when was that?
2013 I do believe was when it appeared at Northolt. The Sabreliner has actually been to the UK earlier this year, made a visit to Boscombe Down in April

Re: Sweden's Pocket Rocket at Edinburgh

It's certainly a characteristic little thing, especially with the bright yellow smiley face on the tail of the aircraft. It'll certainly be a shame if the aircraft isn't taken on by the Historic Flight, or at least placed on display at a museum.

Sweden's Pocket Rocket at Edinburgh

A surprise arrival at Edinburgh Airport yesterday was this Swedish Air Force Rockwell Sabreliner Tp86. Now the only one flying with the Swedish Air Force, it is also the only airworthy Sabreliner to based anywhere outside of North or South America. Sadly I missed its arrival, but was great to hear t...

Cleethorpes Beaufighter Wreckage

Well it looks like the Beaufighter wreckage that was discovered on the sands at Cleethorpes didn't last long (figuratively speaking). However, this article doesn't make it particularly clear if they moved the bomb away from the wreckage. https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/news/grimsby-news/royal-nav...

Re: Aviation- On This Day

Nothing particuarly exciting On This Day, especially in comparison to the quality of the previous posts. Just a normal day at Bournemouth Airport, with the Islander going up on an air-test prior to delivery to FLN in Germany and the ex-MOD/Babcock going up for yet another upset recovery training ses...
