Re: FRIAT 2023 ticket increases discussion
I've only been a FRIAT member since 2014, so not quite a veteran compared to some, but never again. The ask for extra money this year for rolled over tickets was the first straw. Not being invited to the FRIAT forum, which I usually enjoy, was the second. This is the final straw. The price increase ...

Re: RIAT 2020 - CANCELLED
The photo buses were discussed briefly at a FRIAT forum a couple of years ago. From what I recall, its an insurance issue that prevents their return. It was mentioned that there was a photo bus running at the time of the Mig collision and that some debris fell either near to or on the bus. There was...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus
Good for you Dave, I’m not sure I could be as positive as you in that situation. It’s so important not to be paralysed by despair, but it’s much easier said than done. Take care of yourselves.

Re: RIAT 2020
Streffo123, That’s just the point, the organisers know full well that it’s a non starter. They are the ones who are stringing you along. These aren’t silly conclusions, they are based on reality and reason. I can understand why you are upset though, your use of language (dreams being crushed) illust...

Re: RIAT 2020
If China has turned a corner with no new cases I am hoping in 4 to 6 weeks the uk will notice a positive change. I still think RIAT will go ahead in 4 months time. In the meantime if everyone is vigilant it will go quicker rather than linger on over the Summer. Has anyone got any milk? Just been to...

Re: RIAT 2020
I think a better way of looking at this is to think about what would need to change for this to enable the show to go ahead. The answer to that question is a long list of very, very unlikely things. RIAT know that already, I cannot understand why they don’t say so. It’s very disappointing behaviour....

Re: RIAT 2020
I do see your point of view too, I’m just soaking up so much catastrophic information here at work from the govt department I work for that I’m feeling overwhelmed. Maybe I’ve got it wrong, but my views are very much rooted in the current planning assumptions. I guess I’m also angry with RIAT as the...

Re: RIAT 2020
Can the fear mongering be taken to the COVID-19 thread? We can all look up cancellation policies as necessary, it doesn’t need to be in this thread. Fear mongering! Please have some sense about this, we’re in for a 12-24 month period of waves of precautionary measures. There’s no fear mongering abo...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus
At work today, where I am fortunate to hold a relatively high position, we are looking at contingency plans. I no longer think that there is much hope of seeing any shows in the UK until at least August. I work for a wholesaler, and I honestly fear for many small businesses in the hospitality trade...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus
We know plenty about what is happening, that’s the point. It’s playing out in several countries ahead of us and some of those countries, Korea for example, have provided a lot of very good data. Added to which, the modelling of these events is fairly straightforward. It’s nice that you’re optimistic...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus
I wish our Airshow organisers would just acknowledge that they will likely cancel shows, particularly early and mid season. Take RIAT for example, they are planning to hold an event where tens of thousands of people will attend to see aircraft arrive from all over the world. They are planning to hol...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus
It’s not just older people and those with underlying health issues that can have a life threatening case though, they are just in a much higher risk group. In Los Angeles there is a 50 year old extreme skier who was very fit indeed, but who is now in an induced coma because he is so ill with the vir...

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus
Threads like this one, together with threads which discuss climate change, reveal a shocking level of basic scientific knowledge in this country. It’s a wonder that the death rate from drinking bleach isn’t higher because the warnings on the bottle are just a media scare story too.

Re: RIAT 2020
This conversation is quite distasteful. If RIAT is cancelled it will mean that hundreds or thousands of people will be dying of this virus in the UK. Hardly a time to be worrying about an Airshow.

Re: 3rd Party LP-E6N Batteries
Do the 3rd-party batteries provide 'battery usage' data on the camera screen icon, please? I'd seen reports when they first came out that only Canon ones would indicate the usage. Thanks Alisdair I have six of the old 7DayShop LP-E6s. They used to show the battery level in my 70D, but they are fixe...

Re: Top 10 Airshow Moments of 2019
Is that the Duxford that was shunned by being given the top spot? Edited to acknowledge that the statement above is incorrect as pointed out below. I didn’t read the top one and assumed it was about the Daks gathering at Duxford. As others have said, the list is a good reminder that we’ve had a pret...
