Re: Invasion stripes ?

PL983 (the ARCo PRXI Blue Spitfire also in that exhibition) has already gained D-Day stripes over the winter - I suspect more examples are yet to come. Ironically, from what I've heard the one aircraft that they weren't planning on putting stripes on (I'm guessing because of the names) - so that su...

Re: Sywell Airshow 2024

I think in this day and age the price is fair, although I’d rather pay more for the ticket and not have to remember a fiver on the day for the flight line walk. I'm sure I'll be lugging enough cash around to cover the £5 for the flight line walk. From a logistical point of view, making it part of t...

Also interested to find out more about the £10 'Premium Parking' that Sywell are offering. I asked them on Facebook, their reply was it was a lot closer to the airfield. After further clarification, still not ON the airfield, just closer to it So the field over the road then as a best guess. Howeve...

Tickets now on sale: https://www.sywell2024.co.uk/tickets £38 early bird, £45 advance, £52 full price. +£5 for the flight line walk. Early Bird & Advance Cheaper than Duxford's (£49.50, with Duxford charging more for parking too) summer show tickets - seems like they've been reasonable with the...

Re: Duxford Dates 2024

Depends what you want really? Gold Experience is £115, are you planning on driving to the show? If so that's your £5.00 parking permit saved. Are you looking to buy a programme? That's £8 saved in advance or £10 on the day saved. Are you going to be buying food? You'll get discount at the nearest fo...

Re: Sywell Airshow 2024

Are they going to run out of warbirds to announce before June? Surely they won't be keeping up two or so announcements a day for the next 24 weeks ()? They certainly are coming out of the starting blocks strong here - looking like one to watch this year. Without giving too much away (not...

I know it's 3 days into 2024, but computer issues (mainly an uncooperative work laptop on NYE) and working have prevented me from posting this sooner. I've always found the inboard wing roundels to be a little odd. Does anyone know why they were placed there? Apparently something to do with negating the effect of the camouflage if they were in the usual place. Sadly it’s only water-based paint it’s been painted in, so will be going back to its “o...

Re: Duxford dates 2023

On the website it states that the flying starts at 2. It originally stated the flying was starting at 1pm until 2pm, until that error was pointed out. As far as I can see it now says (correctly) that flying starts at 1pm, and this is the time given in the briefing. As an update, I believe the Storc...

No, there's no extra surprises, everything on the website is what's in the display - apart from Otto who's apparently gone tech.

No actual programme but a Flying Lists will be available, including with the special book which celebrates 50 years of Duxford Air Shows.

There'll be extra traffic marshals on hand until later than last year and also the traffic lights on the A505 will be turned off with manual marshalling of exit from the main visitor carpark to help with the egress from the North Side.

Re: Duxford flying finale

Parking in the main visitor car park and in the field north side.

Pot luck which one you'll be directed into (will depend on traffic management at the time), but Blue Badge and motorbikes should be directed to the main visitor car park.
