Re: The UK Airshow Review Podcast

Really enjoyed the podcast gents. Apart from the Pilot Episodes podcast which I enjoy (but the sound is so bad it’s often unlistenable!) I haven’t found an aviation podcast that I get along with yet. This one might be it! A level of nerdiness similar to my own and without the ‘elitism’ of some in th...

Re: RIAT 2019

Hi all - my reflections on Saturday... We usually (for the last five years anyway) camp at Totterdown on Friday and come into the show Saturday. This year though I had been ill all week so we decided camping was not going to happen..first good decision of the weekend with Friday’s weather! So we lef...

Re: Teignmouth Air Show 2019

I popped along for the last hour and saw the typhoon and hurricane. Beautiful weather and beautiful setting. Enjoyed the typhoon from near town on a raised railway bridge and was a great view. Then walked back up the hill to the field at the top of Eastcliff. A bit distant there but through binocula...

Re: How will you be enjoying the show?

Up early on Friday, driving up from Exeter with my Riat going buddy, to get to Totterdown before the flying starts. Watch the flying from outside the tent then wander down to Fairford for the evening. Next morning pack up at 7ish and into the show. Stay until we get knackered (usually about 5ish) th...

I like it - great colours and great to see such effort being made.
Probably has the Yeovilton Airday logo on the other side and will fly each display so that the crowd can only see the 'right' logo - marketing genius!

Reds are due to display at Torbay on the weekend before (1st display of the season) so sure it won't be a problem.

Re: First F35s to Marham 5th June

You are correct about Yeovilton. There are currently no plans to have a ski ramp at Marham, there are 3 landing pads. The cross runway 1/19 is/was going to be used for short field ops. The plan was to have the carrier marking to be painted on the runway Am I right in thinking that although there wo...

RNHF funding to be cut

Just watched a local news report here in the SW that the MoD is cutting the funding entirely from the Royal Navy Historic Flight from next April. All funding will have to come from charitable donations, presumably through the Navy Wings organisation. A real shame if we lose the Swordfish in particul...

Re: President Trump

I believe there was a counter petition which garnered around 300,000 votes in favour of a state visit. In total that makes over 2 million people who have expressed an opinion either way on the visit. That is a lot of people! Political parties and governments make policy decisions and guage public op...

As far as I can tell there is no purdah for it!

I work in a Government Agency (also property related!) and we are in purdah - we had notification from DCLG on 27 May.

Is death part of playing sport as well? Is that all good character-building stuff? I make no apology for wanting to protect children from injury. Adults can make a judgment and decide whether they want commit concussion on each other in the name of sport but children at school rarely have that choi...

Re: CAA Announce Panel for Airshow Review

wishy washy wording IMHO to please media and Gov but will let airshows continue. So Duxford can "consider" closing the M11 and "discuss" a temporary traffic order and put a sign up North and South of the junction to warn jo public that they may want to consider using a different...

Re: The UKAR Gaming Thread

Has anyone tried Battlefront through origin on the PC? I keep getting an error saying my Intel drivers are not the right version. I have updated them and also updated my AMD graphics card but still getting the same error. Any ideas gratefully received!
Thanks

Re: "God save our.." sing up!!

I really couldn't care if he sang or not, nor could I if he didn't do his top button up or not. It's a cheap argument, but no less valid, how many sportsmen and women do you see not singing the national anthem? I've yet to see Rooney splattered on the front page for not singing at an England match....

I was standing on the mini pier today and actually thought the Vulcan display was good. The weather at this poing was on the turn and its arrival was fantastic and thought display ok. I can't remember vapour trail off the Vulcan in recent times and got plenty of that. My 6 year old daughter was fir...

Was listening to the seafire pilot and he was getting very grumpy with the weather coming in! Shame about sea vixen too, would have been nice. ...

Looking like a great show this year anyway to be honest; can't wait.

Are the Friday times in the programme? Would like to see the demo again as not seen with the RAF for some time and will be my last chance I reckon.

I'm so glad it's not just me that feels this....the sense of entitlement that some people have is ridiculous. The A10s at Yeovilton were a perfect example...completely open for people to touch, walk under and everything. Didn't take long to hear someone moaning about 'How the hell am I going to get ...

Re: VL 2015 - So, what did you all think??

Hi all - excellent day I thought. Started with a sit in a long queue though as must have set off from Exeter later than normal (8.45) but was still on base at 10.30 so no real complaints. Excellent static and loved the fact that the A10s were open - my 7 year old was overwhelmed by the gun on the fr...
