Re: Battle Of Britain 80: The Night Shoot
Are you saying there were no engine runs? If so, what extra did those who paid more money get out of the event? There will be another, smaller, event hosted for Premium ticket holders in the spring. The alternative plan was told to photographers during the brief and people were given the option to ...

Re: Buchon/Bf 109G-4/(D-FWME) @ Duxford ~ 9/10Jul2015
As far as I'm aware the Messerschmitt Stiftung D-B powered 109's are non-airworthy at the moment. Their famous "FM+BB" had been going through a lengthy overhaul and was then sold, the G-10 was damaged a few years ago and is still grounded and "Red 7" has had engine gremlins. The...

Re: Current aircraft being restored to flight
No, the Mk.V JN768 (G-TMPV) was owned by Richard Grace for a time, he sold it to Anglia Aircraft Restorations as a source of parts for Mk.II MW763 (G-TEMT), before putting it on the market again.

Re: Duxford Diary 2020
Hardly an over dramatisation of the Spitfire tip up. Sums it up pretty well. Power on throughout, state of disbelieve I imagine! The difference between +7/+9 boost to +18 is vast in terms of warbird operation, though. There's no way the pilot was using anywhere near 'full power'. We're all better t...

Re: UPDATED 07.01 - Flying Legends retrospective - *1995*
This really is, and seemingly will develop into, a great insight into the history of Flying Legends. Possibly one of the fullest and most in-depth to exist in one place? I can only think of Ben Dunnell's excellent 25 year retrospective published in Aeroplane a few years back. I myself will only be a...

Flying Legends is always held on the second weekend in July, it is only ever RIAT which moves dates.

Dan, thanks for taking the time to respond to the point I actually made! There's no way I'm going to crucify anyone for holding up their hand and saying, "Yep, I take your point, that was a bit of an oversight" and that it wasn't intentional, rather than ignoring/denying that those new thi...

Re: Top 10 Airshow Moments of 2019
Indeed Andy, it is obviously all opinion-based, which is why you have asked people to discuss, however, you seem to have misunderstood the main crux of what I am saying. I am pointing out the factual inaccuracy of the text saying nothing new occurred at Duxford airshows, when in fact, the debut of t...

Re: Top 10 Airshow Moments of 2019
The likes of Flying Legends just simply didn't produce any new, interesting or stand-out moments compared to previous years which is sadly reflected in no Duxford shows appearing in our Top 10. No new, interesting or stand out moments - that really is factually incorrect! Legends alone saw the debu...

A great achievement, sadly not promoted as well later on as it was to begin with. I look forward to the documentary. It's like as soon as it took off they just stopped posting about it entirely. Except that literally isn't true, is it? I follow the Silver Spitfire social media channels on Facebook,...

Re: Cosby Victory Show 2020..
To be fair those five events are spread between four countries, and Goodwood is barely an aviation event any more. I think the crossover in people in a conundrum over which event(s) to attend is probably a fairly small group of oddballs So I doubt the clashes have much effect on most people or the e...

Re: New Hotel @ IWM Duxford
My guess would be they are trying to make something of a conference centre with the facilities in Airspace - a hotel on-site would likely make that quite desirable? I've not been a subscriber to Duxford being an awful place for flying displays since the regulation changes, and the M11 end is current...

Yes there did seem to be a lot of boom and zoom flying particularly from the 2 jokers. They spent most of the time really high. I don't mind a bit of that but seemed to be too much. Gosh 'boom and zoom' is such a gash term. Nothing but a Daily Mail-esque soundbite. DaveBR has hit the nail on the he...

Unfortunately, Shuttleworth have just confirmed that the DH-9 won't be at the Military Pageant.
We'll just have to make do with the 8 Hurricanes, 3 Avro 504Ks, Thunderbolt, B-17 etc.
