Wings Over Wairarapa 2021 - Terrific TVAL
The centrepiece of Wings Over Wairarapa are the WW1 aircraft operated by The Vintage Aviator Ltd (TVAL). A mix of rebuilt originals, their own reproductions, and replicas (of varying faithfulness) built by others. Highlights for me were the three examples that I hadn't seen fly Original Sopwith Came...

Re: Canberra WT327 to the U.K.
Interestingly, I spotted yesterday, slightly old news that earlier this year, the Temora Aviation Museum have successfully converted their TT.18 Canberra to electric start, and were doing engine runs with a view to getting it flying again, although Covid has put a brake on any notion of public disp...

Re: 2021 Airshows
As one of the world's outliers, it will be interesting to see what happens in New Zealand when the borders open up. It's all very well believing that it's resolved in that country, but it'll keep coming back there unless they live in national isolation for evermore. A picturesque open prison. I'm n...

... Lots, and for the same reasons as they cite. You can't commit and plan now in advance for such big events, when no one knows what the situation will be in spring or summer next year, especially if that means committing funds now, which you may not be able to recover if the situation still makes...

Just noting here that various other Mosquito parts have gone to AvSpecs, and this includes the substantial remains of Mosquito TE881 (NZ2345).

Re: RW382 in US markings
If you’ve only got one Spitfire in a country, it makes sense to paint it in a local scheme. I guess the UK Spitfire population is big enough that a bit of diversity is possible.😉 There are two ex-RNZAF fighters in NZ (not flying due to a legal dispute but otherwise airworthy) in US/Chinese markings...

Only the Caproni is real. ... Obviously best to time it for the airshow here That said I think it might be another few years before Poms are let back in! The Curtis MF flying boat and DH-4 also originals I thought? The WW2 section is normally closed during (and either side of) the show, as too many...

Re: Wings Over Wairarapa NZ Feb 2021
TVAL, very unsure how much they will come back after COVID-19 closedown. Wingnut Wings has effectively closed. The WOW announcement is carefully worded. It's worth it for me to go, as I expect there will at a minimum be a few TVAL machines on static that I haven't seen before. Omaka will definitely ...

A French A400M has made a couple of visits to Auckland International from French Polynesia this week. Re: Drive-in airshows?
Rough translation: no more air shows in New Zealand. Not under Level 2, no. Possible at Level 1, but there would be the risk of too many outbreaks occurring, and going back to Level 2 (for possibly just a region) at fairly short notice. No normal sort of airshow will be happening until things are v...

Thanks Ronoz, selection more based on airframes unfamiliar to most here (as well showing the spirit of the day), rather than technical quality.

Warbirds On Parade 2020 Ardmore NZ
For many years, New Zealand Warbirds Association has run two or three Open Days (with 3 one-hour flying slots) a year. This season, they held a members day in November, and 'Warbirds On Parade' on March 15th. This involved more visiting aircraft than the average for Open Days. Debut display for this...

Inbound restrictions for NZ will impact most overseas visitors to Wanaka. I don't know if it will impact any planned display pilots.
