Re: The UK Airshow Review Podcast
I would imagine the bag policy was a requirement of the ACPO/Police rep on the local Safety Advisory Group. This sort of thing is rarely the decision of the event organiser. I have no direct knowledge of this case, it's just been my experience - event organisers are very often dealt what can seem ve...

Re: Air Forces Monthly "Showbiz" Thread
@benji1867, AFM published a quite unique article, in 1993 (I think; 75th anniversary of the forming of the RAF). It was a look forwward to how the RAF would look in 2018 (i.e. in 25yrs time, at the 100th anniversary). Would be fascinating to re-read it and see how it compared to reality! I seem to r...

That's exactly how it worked a few years ago. Not sure if it's changed.

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.
ShinMaywa US-2. Always wanted to see one.
However, what I’d really love to see, above all else, is a Ukrainian Air Force F-16.
(In the context of the Russians withdrawing to their border and accepting a peace treaty).
What a party it would be.

Re: Zelensky wants aircraft from the UK
Supporting Ukraine with kit, intelligence and training is the single best defence investment we can make right now. The return on that investment, when compared to ordering another squadron of Typhoons, or another Type 31 which we might see in ten years, is huge.

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread
Don’t think Peter can win. He literally just said ‘2 tankers announced so far’, immediately followed by a post making assumptions. Nobody but a handful of people will know how many more there might be, and and how close they are to being confirmed. I know it’s difficult, but there’s really no point ...

Colloquially known as ‘UK261’.
If you want more info, Google ‘flyertalk BAEC EC261’. The forum there is British-Airways specific, but that thread has lots of info for anyone affected.

Re: Oshkosh list of attendee's
There is an FAA tower at Oshkosh, quite apart from the FISK caravan.
It’s crewed by a team of 64 controllers from all over the FAA, and they rotate through Fond du Lac tower, FISK and specialist departures positions.

Re: CAA swept wing restrictions
This is a bit of a tangent, but it's worth remembering that the long and detailed reviews that the CAA conducted after Shoreham weren't just focussed around the accident itself. They represented a full root and branch examination of all relevant procedures and risk assessments regarding how airshow...

Re: CAA swept wing restrictions
One doesn’t have to go too far into past airprox reports to understand why anything else on airshow arrival or departure days can introduce hazards to operations. Maybe so, but he wasn’t at RIAT this year. Nor Cosford either. Funny that… My post wasn’t about personalities, and the point stands.

Re: CAA swept wing restrictions
I would also add that for those wishing more 'exciting' arrivals with touch and go or low flypasts at RIAT beware of what you wish. One major safety incident on arrivals or departures, or even the display itself will more than likely put an end to the types of high dynamic displays we see now. Agre...

Re: RIAT 2022 Feedback and thoughts
. Negatives, well small gripes, the cloud on Friday afternoon, why didn't the organisers plan the E-4, Swedes and Hunter to arrive in the morning after the A-4 I will never know? I mean, I’m just wildly guessing here, but I don’t think the folks doing the Longest Day in mid-June have the detailed h...

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
Good to meet with Chris and his spotter of the future son (complete with his own airshow t-shirt) Great to catch up Iain - he had a great day and made it until just after the RAF Typhoon - we watched the French Mirage team and the F-35 walking back to the car and most of the F-16 while the aircon g...

A quick note to say that we're setting up a 'RIAT ATC' account here, so everyone will know when RIAT ATC is posting rather than any of the personal accoiunts used by the team here.

Re: RIAT 2022 Discussion Thread
It will be open to aircraft less than 41m. The parking plan has taken this into account, so 27 is still the preferred runway for heavies.

Re: RIAT ATC Twitter feed
How many different airports are represented within the team now, if I may ask? I remember it being mentioned in the past but I can't remember now! Heathrow, Guernsey, Stansted, Farnborough, East Mids, and our support staff this year will come from Swanwick (Mil and civ), Heathrow, PJHQ Northwood an...

No, sorry.
It’s difficult enough to grab time to update the Twitter feed when the show is on!
I’ll copy and paste later this evening on a separate thread.,
