2 seconds on Google gives this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9th_Reconnaissance_Wing#Emblem It states "The crest and motto were approved for the 9th Reconnaissance Wing on 1 July 1952 upon its inherited lineage of the 9th Bombardment Group. The shield, in black and green, represents the old colors o...

Re: What will you miss most without airshows this year?

I will miss the entertainment given by the totally predictable self obsessed and uninhibited bickering on the RIAT 2020 thread. Other than that I will really miss attending the show with my recently departed and long term friend who was unfortunate enough to catch Covid 19 and have COPD.

Former Athens IAP at Ellinikon which closed in 2001 you can still see a Hellenic BAC-111, and Olympus 747, 727 and 737 parked on the ramp https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@37.87967 ... 312!8i6656 more details and photos here https://aviationanalyst.co.uk/2019/07/1 ... l-airport/ seems the redevelopment has been somewhat delayed.

Knoxy, you can do that and they will email an eticket to you. Last year they were scanning a barcode at the entry gate for kids with no advance ticket (accompanied by adults with valid tickets) so it may not be necessary to get them in advance, best check with them

Re: RIAT 2017 (Discussion & Participation Thread)

I'm pretty sure I've asked this before so apologies to anyone that's explained this to me previously: Why do we have Phantoms in the static but not in the display? That's easy - a) because the Phantoms ooze chrarisma which makes all the other aircrew jealous and b) because you'd have the Red Arrows...

Could have been Buff01(b52) or Bone01(b1) which were reported over Peterborough at 0730 after using the Daventry corridor heading ENE. Buff02 was reported over you at 0908. If you want to track the exercise departures (which are early and daily except for tomorrow) you need to use FC. This site does...

As usual, just the Saturday for me with my annual treat - The Aviation Club - worth it for the priority route . Andy Worth £140 to avoid 10 minutes of slow moving traffic? Not when you can use the same route and the same travel time by using the shuttle bus from Swindon for only £3. On that route t...

Re: C5 Galaxy into Mildenhall 1st May

At the risk of losing my "street cred", did I really see a C5 Galaxy going into Mildenhall (from a long distance) on Monday 1st May, which had light overall colour and light blue markings on the tail and engine cowlings? I know I was driving, and not in a useful direction but at 1515 BST ...

Tammy, have you tried calling RIATs focal point Sarah Turner on 01285 713300 ext 5380? I saw the attendance figure for the Sunday in 2012. To say it was pitiful would be an understatement. Day specific, and pre-sales only were seemingly brought in as knee-jerk responses to the cancellation in 2008. I'd imagine thousands would turn up on spec if the weather was good on a given day.
