Viewing aircraft in Crete

I just flew into Crete yesterday and noticed a US C-130 and RC-135 on the military part of the apron. And today I saw a pair of F-16 overhead at about 3000ft Are there any regular movements around Chania international airport or is it hit and miss. Just looking to do some casual aircraft watching no...

Just a quick question on legends,
I’m passing through the area on the Friday. And I’m going to visit the museum, will there be any practice or display validations going on?
Cheers Steve

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

The Pc-9m’s arrived in 2004 so they couldn’t have been at ‘97.
As gripenjet says the Silver Swallows were likely the team you remember flying beautiful silver fouga magisters.
I really miss them .

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

Seems like there is a special D-Day painted A-10 in Europe right now belonging to the 107th fighter wing. https://theaviationist.com/2017/08/07/u-s-air-force-a-10-warthog-gets-rare-non-standard-markings-to-commemorate-the-100th-anniversary-of-the-107th-fighter-squadron/ Hmmm I wonder if this is the ...

Re: Townsend farm camping

Hi thanks for the info, yeah I’m in the show on Saturday so I wanted to be there early.
And usually I have a few beverages at shows so an overnight stay is usually required.

Townsend farm camping

Hi all , I left the booking of camping until today but it seems the official campsite (which I stayed in last year) Is full. (It wasn’t last year) I just booked into Fairford airshow camping (Townsend farm) and it looks like it’s fairly close to the approach for Runway 27. Anyone stay here before? A...

Re: What do you do with your photos?

It would be pretty weird for a photographer shooting a model to put down the camera for a while to just appreciate the spectacle or for a sports photographer to put down their gear and just enjoy the game. Strange analogises to use here, considering these two examples are photographers making money...

You mean photos cjs?
No I’m pretty awful at any photography, however I have taken appalling shots of a few airshows
At leuchars about 13 years ago.
All taken on film and awful due the excitement of seeing pretty much every aircraft for the very first time .

Re: What do you do with your photos?

Well luckily you are all shooting photos, as after I watch the show I look on here for the memories.
That way I get the best of both, I couldn’t print any or show anyone as herself and most mates couldn’t give a fudge about aircraft.
Thanks

Thanks for all the viewpoints, it’s amazing to see those that have thought about it and rationalised it for what they want to get out of it. Dave jones I honestly thought more people would have had an epiphany like yours. And I agree the photo book of your best photos from the year makes a great ide...

Yeah it’s interesting to see that it’s both for many . That guy watching the b-2 through his camera seems to be the type that amazed me when I first went to Uk airshows. Brevet I forgot there was a thread but I’m trying to figure out more along the lines of motivation for going to airshows. And if p...

Re: Typhoon in colour?

Fair points , but maybe they think the RAFAT and BBMF are enough and celebrating the RAF is their primary function. However other air arms do it. It could be the civil servants penny pinching and the RAF deserves no flack or it could be the corporatism that is creeping into all government department...
