Drop dead gorgeous, all of them. Most envious of your technique and not being able to be there.

Re: Shuttleworth Vintage show - Mostly not the usual suspects

The sun in the early afternoon can be a problem at Old Warden. It is at its best in the evening shows in the 'golden hour' before sunset. As we were leaving my friend and I were saying that the show had finished too early

Re: Shuttleworth (Old Warden) Vintage Air Show 2023

Nice, crisp shots. I am annoyed that I didn't get that shot of the Staggerwing.
I don't think the weather was quite perfect. There was a lot of thin white cloud which gave some of the shots a very boring white background.

Shuttleworth Vintage show - Mostly not the usual suspects

Mostly the visiting a/c with Deperdussin & Wren at the end The weather was not too good for picture taking. Brilliant, rather harsh, sunlight and a background of thin high cloud giving many of the pictures a plain white background. On the other hand the wind was light and it was possible to fly ...

Soggy Friday at RIAT

I and two friends decided that as we had tickets we would risk a visit on the Friday and spent the day thinking that we were mad. However we did see some flying and being equipped with suitable protection managed to survive. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53055741500_55669c3f7f_b.jpg For me the...

RIAT 2023 Sunday - Except for the 262 mainly grey aircraft against a grey sky

I spent Friday in the wind and rain at the show but on Sunday I went to Totterdown Starting with the ones I came to see - the ME 262 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53054846781_62f85609ae_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53054256607_d419ff8863_b.jpg Then there was the Harrier https://li...

Shuttleworth Special Operations Evening 20 May 2023

The weather was mostly bright and clear but a stiff NE wind meant that the Edwardians could not fly and the light aircraft suffered a bumpy ride which made formation flying somewhat tricky. At the close of the day all the clouds cleared and the last few pictures were taken in that lovely evening lgh...

Red Arrows Crossover at Eastbourne. Why? Because it's the first (and only?) I got them perfectly aligned, in focus and correctly exposed

Shuttleworth Race Day

Not much actual racing but a number of racers were amongst the visitors. The weather was somewhat variable from overcast, through broken cloud to brilliant sunshine just at the end for the Spitfire and Lysander Some pictures are not the best but included out of interest. A Yak 11 started the show ht...

Shuttleworth Steam & Vintage Airshow Sept 4th

A dull day for photography but not for flying. Some types I had not seen before and some I had not seen for some time. The weather was not great being mainly overcast with a strong wind. However as the original forecast had been for thundery showers it could have been much worse. Blenheim https://cd...

RIAT 2022 from Totterdown

All these were taken off the airfield at Totterdown. The strong sunlight and its position, you are looking into the sun a lot of the time, plus a misbehaving camera made photography somewhat difficult. A lot of post-processing went on to lighten the parts in shadow. Italian Typhoon https://cdn01.hob...

Re: OW Season Premiere 2022 - we're back....

The show was well attended. The car parks were nearly full and people were still arriving close to the start time. No Covid restrictions were in force. Having bought tickets in advance and seen a grim weather forecast we were sorely tempted to cut our losses and not attend but I was glad that we did...

Re: OW Season Premiere 2022 - we're back....

'Challenging' is a polite way of putting it. Really good shots from a show that deserved better weather. Perhaps Shuttleworth could find a way to organise a 'Sky Replacement' feature... https://cdn01.hobbyphotohost.com/p?i=9544f8ca2e7c7dbed99a3032688ba4bb https://cdn01.hobbyphotohost.com/p?i=ed7f9ab...

Re: Headcorn Battle of Britain show - Saturday 26 September 2020

Your pictures show that it was merely dull, not how perishingly cold it was with a wind that cut through several layers of thermal covering. I left early before I lost the will to live as there seemed to be no prospect of any decent pictures. Well done on getting what you did and well done to the pi...

Shuttleworth 3rd Drive-in Airshow Sept 6

There was a very interesting line-up with a few a/c I had not seen, or heard of, before. A variable day weatherwise. It started sunny then became overcast then cleared, a pattern that was repeated all afternoon. It ended up being sufficiently calm to fly 3 of the Edwardians, alas not the Deperdussin...
