Re: Desford petition
I thought I'd give people an update on the Desford's return to flight. I'd planned to write an article about all this for Aeroplane when the aircraft had been issued with its permit to fly, but things have changed slightly over the past few days(!). The Desford has flown on nine occasions since maki...

Should anyone be interested, here's where the Desford is up to.
To receive a permit to fly, it requires ten hours of flight testing. Nine hours and five minutes of that has been completed.

Virgin Atlantic 747-400, G-VLIP, touching down at Manchester one sunny morning in May 2018. I was working for Swissport at the time and about three hours or so after shooting it, I was in the bulk hold loading it for a trip to JFK. Happier, simpler times. https://cdn.planespotters.net/14788/g-vlip-v...

It may have been military types, as there are no complete Hermes left as far as I'm aware. Just the fuselage of G-ALDG at Duxford as part of the British Airliner Collection. I suppose it could theoretically be turned back into a complete Hermes if a Hastings was to be scrapped and its wings and emp...

Thanks to Andy for the kick up the arse to remind me I'm meant to be judging this - not that it matters as Tom's done my job for me. There's no topping Peter's shot of the Binman roaring out of Birmingham as far as I'm concerned. Dan's shot of the VARIG MD' a very close second - a fantastic combinat...

Genuinely surprised to have come out on top in the Raspberry Ripple thread. Seeing as it’s the 50th anniversary of the McDonnell Douglas DC-10’s maiden flight later this year, I’d like to see your best shots of Douglas and McDonnell Douglas jets. For clarity: DC-8, DC-9, C-9, DC-10, KC-10, MD-11 and...

There are 22 public service obligation air routes in the UK. Loganair operate 12, AirTask (Hebridean Air Services) hold eight, while Flybe and Eastern Airways each have one.

I'd expected that this would have been reported before, but apparently not... Long-time White Waltham resident, Fairey Gannet ECM.6 XA459, was seen being transported to its new home at Solway Aviation Museum, Carlisle Airport, earlier today:

Makes sense to me. How many airshow fans dont appreciate decent food? Some lovely German grub on an Autumn's day. Throw in some classic Porsche, Mercedes in the grounds etc , Junkers 52 maybe? I realise it'd cost a fair bit, but they could always go a little bit mad and get the Junkers F.13 replica...
