Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

Still misnamed, though, given that it hasn't gone anywhere near Dakar for more than a decade.

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

Paying driver Robert Kubica off to Alfa Romeo as reserve driver, thanks to their new sponsor ( Polish petrol company ) PKN Orlen.

And tomorrow sees the start of this year's ( still misnamed ) Paris-Dakar Rally, with Alonso driving for Toyota.

Re: Fairford NOTAM

I'm lulling you into a false sense of security....or saving it until the next time I'm bored, or something. Given the various goings-on over the past few days, I was expecting it to be NOTAMed as open if only in case of possible diverts.....sod's law that the only previous one was in between the tim...

Re: Deceased in 2020

Interestingly, one of the others TWEPed in the attack was Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who was the commander of the Kata'ib Hezbollah militia and whose headquarters the Americans bombed last weekend. You have to wonder it he was the actual target this time around and that Soleimani was collateral damage (...

The Great Wall Matt Damon ( playing an English Knight ) and a bunch of Chinese warriors versus a load of monsters ( makes a welcome change from zombies these days ) Completely and uttery silly, but very entertaining. Ghost in the Shell The 2017 Scarlett Johansson remake. Why did they bother? I gave...

Re: Christmas & New Year Base Closures 2019

It was '41s routing that confused me....out over the Irish Sea where it lurked for a bit, then down to the Bay of Biscay where it lurked a bit more, then to the Azores. With the number of MC-130s already deployed ( from both Europe & CONUS ) I don't think they'll miss it. Edited to add.... Seen...

Re: Christmas & New Year Base Closures 2019

It's another one of those deployments where they aren't exactly keeping it secret what they're sending. Along with the 82AbD & 352 SOG, the 160 SAOR have also deployed ( no secret, it's all been on various official USAF & Army facebook & twitter feeds! ) The MC-130 I caught this morning ...

Re: Christmas & New Year Base Closures 2019

Don't know about Lakenheath, but Mildenhall aircraft have been up over the last couple of days and are up again today.
Mostly KC-135s, but today there's at least one MC-130 up.

KCs have been heading down South.....82AbDiv deployment related?

Gallipoli ( on Amazon Prime ) It's not ANZACS, but it's a hell of a lot less sanitised. Also different in showing part of it from the Turkish perspective. Shame series 2 hasn't been made ( yet? ) Whinges? Poor weapons (SMLE) drills, wrong ammo ( Mk.VI Round-Nosed .303 not Mk.VII ) and the obligatory...

Yep, the plotline wasn't exactly hidden, was it, especially given that they have form for rehashing it every few films.....what with the Luke-Leia almost-incest ( and the one thing that's always bugged me with that is that both Yoda and Obi-Wan would have known who they were, but did nothing ) and t...

From reviews I've read and heard, 'Rise of Skywalker' looks to be one of those films which polarises opinion - it either gets lauded as being better than the greats such as 'Alien' & 'Firefly', or condemned as being worse than dross such as 'The Last Starfighter' o 'Sunshine'. If even half of th...
