Re: B-1 divert to FFD 06/03/2024
Edit to my last.....
On the offchance, checked on Live-Mode-S site -- listing one B-1B up over the UK, tail No. 86-0124 , so it wasn't the Fairford one.

Re: B-1 divert to FFD 06/03/2024
Considering Fairford's NOTAM'd as being closed today, suspect the B-1 has departed! Just been giving routing on 123.95 & destination given as LEMO ( Moron in Spain, in case anyone doesn't know ) Not currently showing on the likes of FR24 & EDSB-Exch. but going by the noise I have a feeling i...

Rhyl 2024 show cancelled
Supposedly solely because RAFAT wouldn't be attending.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
Another quick appearance by me.... Anyone thinking about camping at Kempsford but who haven't booked yet, you may have dipped-out. Just checked their website, and it's now saying 'BOOKING NOW CLOSED' on the home page. That said, the page listing the pitch prices is still unchanged & the actual p...

Re: Cornwall aviation heritage centre
Hopefully 'iainpeden' will forgive me for breaking my self-imposed 'one post only' embargo  Presuming that the VC10 in question is ZA148.....it - or at least various bits of it, in particular the forward fuselage section - was moved to GJD at St Athan about a week ago. Plan apparently is for i...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread
Back for one post, and one post only...... Starting selling next year's tickets as soon as this year's show is ridiculous. And no doubt some will feel pressured into buying them now due to the 'Running out fast' nonsense. Next year's basic ticket is currently 'on offer' at the Super Early Bird price...

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
Again no idea how many, but Chinook(s) up again, and again heading roughly WSW, callsign EASY 30 ( no surprise there )
Just been working 124.75 saying crossing via LIPGO ( which, unless I'm mistaken, in over water between North Wales & Dublin )

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
At least one of the two 'Hooks is now on it's way back to Cardiff to join the others. No comms heard until it/they were approaching my location....and to confuse matters, also using EASY 30 callsign ( same as when they all initially departed Cardiff ) Looking on ADSB-Exch. show as being up from the ...

Re: The FR24/PlanePlotter Thread
Chinooks up out of Cardiff, were heading roughly WNW, but just done a U-turn and sounds to be heading back. And just before I posted this..... Further comms that they're a flight of 4 heading back to Cardiff. Just reported that one aircraft had an IFE and has landed in a field ( no idea where, but l...

All arrived using a single callsign, EASY 30psquiddy wrote: Landed at Cardiff Airport.
Not heard them leave yet, so presume they're still there.

Might be wrong, but I think that they binned it several years ago ( one of the last pre-Covid shows, so either 2018 or 2019 ? )

From today's newsletter : We promised to update you as soon as we had news to share about the aircraft’s future. As you know we have been looking into various options for potential new locations for Vulcan XH558. We can now confirm that the Vulcan to the Sky Trust and Peel L&P have been having p...

Re: SPTA Flying
They were pretty busy there & at other locations cramming many months-worth of training into several weeks per intake.
Think MOD referred to it as a 'Partner Nations' Exercise ( and the training, as far as I can gather, was conducted by Australian & Canadian Instructors as well as UK ones )

Possibly because the Ukes have been busy playing with various big metal bangy things down there for the past few months ( as well as at various other locations )
Supposed to be back to normal next month.

Re: Gannet XT752 - status please
There was another one a couple of years later, but the main reason I posted that link is that some of the posts in there covered the prop removal tool. SWAM also have XL472 which was supposed to be used as a spares source for XL500, but I suspect that - like the various other PtoF/return to flight p...

Re: Gannet XT752 - status please
This was the thread on the key.aero forum about XL500, last updated in 2015. From it, it looks like whoever was refurbishing the props was having issues finding the correct tools and also costs of this part of the refurb may have become prohibitive. https://www.key.aero/forum/historic-aviation/1114...

You can have the speakers from up the Green end if you want......no, really, I insist........ ( As you can guess, I'd be quite happy without the PA system ) Edited to add.... There you go, another question for FRIAT -- can we have a 'quiet zone' on the crowdline area, where there aren't any PA speak...

On top of Tommy's questions.... The only Theme that's been announced is 'Skytanker 23' -- is that it, or are there others so come? Is there a special flypast planned as part of the Skytanker theme? Anything planned with regards celebrating Charles becoming King, or to to commemorate the death of QEI...
